Where does this myth come from that fsg don't spend money?

Our team is littered with massive wastes of money.like Benteke or even Carroll before him.

I don't get it.

Carroll = Torres money
Benteke = Sterling money

Technically I don't think FSG have spent much of their money on transfers recently, instead relying extorting other clubs for our players to fund our own, mostly poor (!!!) transfer bizniz.

On the flip side, they've spent their money on the Anfield redevelopment, clearing some of our debt etc.

They've cleared all our debt and made us self sufficient

I don't think it matters that they used some of the sterling money for Benteke or the suarez money on whoever.

They're not keeping the money. They're reinvesting it.

We are wasting the money on crap. Which would make them think twice about handing out large sums.

Our best players of the last 10 years have been bargains. A massive money deal never works for us.

They don't spend lots of money. They buy players that usually have resale value using sometimes using the money they got from flogging players. We could have a more successful team spending less money by buying players solely based on what they could contribute to us. And then this model would require FSG to put more money after a little bit and it is not sustainable.

People on here say Rodgers wasted £300m and they actually think it is all down to Rodgers we wasted that much money. It was FSG's people who compiled a list of transfer targets for the manager based largely on their potential resale value so the initial transfer fee was likely to be very big for the quality of player we got. And also it was FSG who decided how much we would pay for a player. So when we overpaid for some of our players, FSG's people didn't think we were at the time.

It looks like were not relying on this transfer committee system as much now which is good because the manager will get players he wants and will have the option to pick up players with only say a year left on their contract for a cheap fee which would have otherwise not been on the committee's list.

I understand but I don't think it's fair to say that reinvesting money isn't spending.

Man utd bought Antonio valencia to replace Ronaldo

Wenger has still yet to replace anyone that departed for barca

Unless we base ourselves on Chelsea or man city I think we spend enough.

Net spend has never bothered me I'd just rather we don't blow another 30mil+ on another one season wonder

FFP restricts the amount that owners can spend of their own money anyway unl;ess that's been relaxed now? What we've got from sales has been reinvested and you can't say otherwise. It's just been reinvested badly.

And lets remember, the OP was by G.

Isn't that the same for every club, though?

If Carroll had banged in 30 goals and secured us CL, 35m would feel liuke a bargain.

If Allen had morphed into Xavi, 15m would have been a bargain.

It's all relative, man!
