Don't hold your breath EMP, rumour has it were talking to a 5m rated keeper! In the market place you tend to get what you pay for, so if that rumour is correct it should tell us how high our ambition reaches. What was it Shanks said about reaching for the ceiling, again?

Leicester bought hardly any players above £5 million and they did ok, you do not have to pay massively over the odds, we have done that in the past and not got improvements, look at Benteke, Klopp will buy the players to suit the system and coach them to improve them in the team, we don't need to spend £30-50 million on a player to get a decent player.

So we've learned nothing by spending 300m on over 30 prospects under the current policy then? We should copy Leicester who just won the title for the first time in 130 years in the kind of freakish season that's unlikely ever to be repeated? So we think all the best sides in Europe consistently compete at the top of their leagues and in the CL just because they're lucky, and would be doing the same if they spent a fraction of their expenditure on player fees and wages? So we think they're all stupid spendthrifts who year on year waste their money by the tens of millions on players like Suarez when they'd do just as well with Aspas?

My point is we should not judge a player by his price tag, just because a player is £5 million doesn't mean he is rubbish and will not improve the team, which is pretty much how I read your comment. I am happy for Klopp to pay £30 million for a player like Gotze if he thinks he will improve the team, my point is you do not have to spend £30-50 million every time to get a good player, your best spending £5 million on a player who will fit the system you want to play than £35 million on a Galactico name who won't play the way you need them to play. In recent years we have chucked huge transfer fees/wages at players with no real planning on how they will play/fit in - Benteke/Markovic/Carrol etc

When you look at the best teams in Europe You hardly see a team spends 5m on a player and within the same season he becomes a star. The big teams nowadays will spend on the right player that fit their system but mostly are expensive transfers. They might spend smaller amounts on prospect players but you hardly see these type of players win them titles within a few seasons. Modern football is so competitive now that you see big teams at the top of there game winning their domestic leagues and CL and when the transfer window opens they spend big just to sustain a high level of football and have a chance to win a trophy. Those teams also have the best managers.

As above. It all depends on the buyer.

We need to give Klopp as much as he needs so he has the freedom to decide who's a cheap prospect and who's worth £30-40m and prioritise which one's right for the team.
