Some of the nonesense joe Anderson spouted last night made me feel uncomfortable hillsbororough was a human tragedy some of the stuff verged on political capital making particularly as we are at election time. The South Yorkshire police we need to be careful too whereas the senior officers and the force as a whole were a disgrace let's not forget some of the ordinary bobbies on the day tried all they could to help and saved lives I know I witnessed it. Whereas most of what joe Anderson said was of course true we need to be careful with the rhetoric and tone or it may turn the general public against us
what about the true utter disgraceful nonsense that has hurt peoples lives for years from the likes of ingham, and boris johnson its funny that you single out a labour liverpool mayor but dont mention the tories who like ingham who still to this day will not apologies , there comments make me real uncomfortable not the words of joe anderson , who had been part of the fight for justice, unlike the inghams and johnsons and mc kenzies of this world .
I don't agree with Stanley's viewpoint there. I do however fully agree with Faz's viewpoint. The Tories and their media mob have done all they could to turn the general public against us for years. However the courage and tenacity of the relatives of those their hirelings unlawfully killed has finally found justice and the truth. The general public would be perfectly happy to see those responsible for both the unlawful killing and the subsequent coverup charged and brought to justice. And it should happen.
I think what Stan has said is pretty fair and balanced. As he said, most of what Anderson said is true, but making categorical statements about ALL of the police is both unfair and unwise. That doesn't mean that he is absolving the men who caused this tragedy and covered it up. Far from it! But at the same time, what of the Bobbies who actually did their jobs?
I wasn't there that terrible day, but he was, and he saw some policemen trying their best to save as many lives as they could, despite the ineptitude of their fellows and superiors. Painting them all with the same dark brush does us no more good than it did to paint all football fans as "drunken yobs" as some terrible politicians did to cover things up. That very human tendency to write other human beings off is what made this 27 year delay of justice possible.
Even after being severely wronged, it's important to keep our heads clear, and to not make another mess, when we have just now reached a point where something will be done about this one.
