I actually think he's a an underrated player. I think he's much better than many here give him credit for. He does make mistakes, but I think he's useful.

He is useful going forwards and sometimes at tracking back. With him on the pitch we seem unbalanced since he is more of an attacking player than a defender.

But he:

-Lunges into tackles that will eventually get himself sent off and/or injure an opponent.

-Can't defend for his life.

-Has very poor positional awareness.


So for me he is all over the place.

Clyne on the other hand is a very settled fullback. Perhaps not contributing as much as Moreno going forwards, but he is instead a true defender. We need 4 defenders on the pitch, and with Moreno we only seem to have 3.

He's only 23. Give him time to develop and he'll be a very good LB by the time he hits 25-26.

But in the meantime he needs to be managed according to our opponents:

- Against strong teams he should be benched, since we will be spending more time defending in those games - which he currently is cáck at.

- Against weaker teams he should play and be told to try and develop both his strengths and weaknesses.

A full back should be able to defend first and foremost. Anything they provide in the attack is a bonus. Moreno can't defend. Great recovery speed and challenge but when he's faced up he can not defend and is a complete liability.

We know he can attack, and he should stay at LFC and develop. And what else can we do with the amount of ££££ that we paid for him.

But would we say the same about a striker who turned out to be hopeless at scoring, but was good at defending?

Where do you ultimately put such a player in the line up?

I don't, 442 dia, which we won't play, so like we've discussed until he improves (if he ever does his positioning and tackling, timing of his runs) then I'd definitely get a more stable left back in.
