Suarez did not leave Liverpool for the £75m reported - but why has that happened?

A contract has emerged online claiming to detail the transfer of Luis Suarez from Liverpool to Barcelona – with the alleged fee coming under scrutiny.

It was believed Liverpool received £75m when selling the Uruguayan striker in 2014, but these leaked documents – released by website Football Leaks – suggest Suarez moved for a fee just shy of £65m, which is what Barcelona claimed to have paid at the time.

Though the contract's legitimacy has not been confirmed, it claims Barcelona have already paid four sums of £13m, with a final payment of £12,980,000 due on July 31 2016.

There is, however, some uncertainty about a specific clause in the contract, which seems to suggest Barcelona have assumed responsibility for the FIFA solidarity payment mechnaism.

FIFA regulations state that any international transfer fee requires that 5% be deducted from the overall fee and be distributed to the clubs at which the player was registered between the seasons of his 12th and 23rd birthday.

With Suarez joining Anfield having just turned 24, the clubs entitled to this payment are Uruguayan side Nacional, and Dutch duo Groningen and Ajax.

The alleged contract states that the fee is net of this payment and it must not be deducted from the fee, therefore would amount to approximately £3.25m.

That would not make up the disparity of £10m, but may explain part of the difference - if this contract is factual.

In 2014, it was reported in the Dutch media that Ajax were anticipating the deal between Liverpool and Barca to be completed, as they were entitled to an undisclosed percentage of the transfer fee.

Perhaps a little OTT, even though I guess you didn't really mean it. With all the extremist, mindless violence we're seeing around us the last thing we need is a lynch mob mentality in football.

Anyone who is not up to the task should simply be thanked for their effort and politely shown the door. Unless of course they committed a fraud on the club... like one of our recent employees is suspected to have done. But even then, best just to give them the boot.
