For those interested the second half is just about to start on BT Europe.
Still 0-0, very end to end, a few chances, really good watch.

Some very good players on display including -
Our new CB Joel Matip
Ralf Fahrmann, Schalke keeper
Leon Goretzka
Max Meyer
Leroy Sane
Pierre Holjberg (spelling)
Yann Sommer
Chelsea's Christiansen
Granit Xhaka
Mahmoud Dahoud (this kid is special, pray we look at him)
Thorgan Hazard
Lars Stindl

Enjoy

Ended 2-1 to Schalke even though Gladbach bossed the game.
Fahrmann(GK) MOM performance and one absolutely world class save. He has been linked with us recently.

Our Matip wasn't really involved.

Leroy Sane showing some of why every club in the world are interested, even at the ridiculous 40m price tag.

Dahoud, at 20, constantly controls games from midfield and almost scored a goal of the season contender from the left of the box around 20 odd yards out. He just oozes class.

Gladbach really should have won this comfortably. Crazy game football is. Great one to watch.

Just watched the highlights, looked like a great game. Gladbach were unlucky but wasteful too, the own goal was a comedy of errors.

are we now?? hmm

take all the other players you've mentioned but we can't buy all schalke's best talents, so dahoud is staying on your list of 4/5 players you want to see brought in, in the summer, Sane wasn't on there? sticking with that?

Joel wasn't too involved? ah well at least he only conceded 1, if liverpool averaged only 1 conceded per game I'd take that.

Yeah, you're right and I'd rather see Ter Stegan come in before Fahrmann but he's definitely a good option.

At this moment in time I can't see us signing Modric or Veratti and I rate those two as the two best playmakers in world football. Gundogen just behind them but I don't trust his injury record. I've seen enough in Dahoud to know that he's ready now and would improve our midfield, alongside Emre, massively and at 20 years old they could be the fulcrum of our midfield for many years to come. He's the player I most want us to sign in the Summer. Being under the radar a bit, I think he wouldn't be too expensive.

Sane is good, he's quick, direct and has fantastic dribbling but he's not ready to play in a top European side and contribute week on week. He doesn't even start every week at Schalke and yet there's talk floating around of him being worth 40 million pounds. That's just a joke and I think we need someone that's ready now for that right side. If we want a young talent to compliment them then we should look at Andrija Zivkovic, he'll be a free agent in the summer and literally reminds me of Messi.

We've already got Matip from Schalke so maybe 1 more in Fahrmann? We took 3 from Southampton in 1 window.
Dahoud is at Gladbach if you weren't sure so it's not like raiding one club.

Xhaka is good but he's too much like Emre and a midfield of two of the exact same player wouldn't work in my opinion. They both sit a bit deeper whilst he's partner Dahoud links the midfield with the attack. He's proved he can work with Xhaka so he could definitely work with Can.

He is, very two footed flair player that's got a real eye for goal and a decent free kick but he's also 30 years old.

Raffael hit his during the 4 or 5 years he played for Hertha - shame for them that Marko Pantelic was never really proper fit in the season or so when they were both there. Pantelic I thought had the ability to have achieved more than he did.Had the ability to impose himself on matches and though you would think of him as a typically aggressive Serb, he did not have a bad disciplinary record.
