Our rumours page predicts that he’ll leave this summer and given his age I’d imagine that’s likely. However looking at his recent performances I’d argue that he’s still better, or at least as good as anything we’ve currently got in central defence. All the others have been guilty of repeating basic errors, lapses in concentration, misreading and failure to clear their lines at a pretty fundamental level. On that basis would anyone here agree that we should give Kolo another season as a back up defender, and ship out the other’s in the upcoming summer window?

Depends on who we buy this summer. We already have Matip coming in and I'd be surprised if he was the only one. We also have Gomez to come back who was looking good al be it at left back.
I do like Toure though and don't think he's been a bad addition as back up.

It's the same situation with allen, I think it would be unwise to get rid of him for 4 mil because he's a good player if klopp wants to use 3 cm's, even if I still think he still doesn't offer enough going forward and will be exposed as one of the weak links in the team if we're trying to move the ball fast to break teams down, and his shooting can be terrible, and there are technically better players we can bring in to replace him, but I guess a) someone has to go at least from each area of the team, strike, mid, defence,gk b) it highlights our existing lack of Quality squad Depth that works together, if we're unsure to replace a fair few of the players that have been inconsistent for various reasons, yet the squad needs to put right what it got wrong this season.

As you imply, we should look for at least one more. Gomez is a bit on the young and inexperienced side yet imo, and anyway I’d tend to use him as competition for Flanagan at LB, and I’d also sign competition for Clyne on the right. I’d sell Moreno and our existing half backs, though, as they’re inconsistent at best, they’re just not LFC or title challenger’s.

I don't know much about Matip either. He's supposed to be good but so were most of them that we bought. I'd say we'll get another CB too and hopefully a goal keeper.

Agree, a goalkeeper is a must, as is a few more for other critical positions. I’d start with the defence though, imo you can never win anything worthwhile with a leaky defence. For me the revival must begin there, and as you imply there’s nothing in a defence as important as a reliable goalkeeper.

Pointless us bringing in potential with the likes of Actherberg and Ljinders waiting in the wings to sully them!!!
Bring in "experienced in success" coaches...you wouldn't buy a F1 car and have a wet behind the ears kid drive it and expect success would you?

I've been really impressed with Kolo as of late, he was immense in both games against Man City. I guess its just his age that goes against him but he strikes me as the perfect professional whose experience in the squad is vital, I'd keep him for another season.

Yes I agree Chris, he was class and we haven’t seen much of that quality from the others in his position, so why get rid just because of age factors? To reverse the oft used cliche; if he’s good enough he’s young enough!
