Like everyone else I was very disappointed with the quality of our penalties today but I have to question the order and those who took the kicks.
James Milner has been our penalty taker this season and has scored every one, why was he not pushed further up the order when we knew we had to score? He's our best penalty taker!
Jordan Henderson is our club captain, he should have been taking a penalty and leading by example.
I've mentioned our captain and vice captain mainly because it has to be their responsibility in situations like this, they need to lead by example.

Different ball game had we gone 2 up on pens. Should always start with your stick on pen takers. Henderson has taken in the past as has Sturridge and Origi was pen taker for Lille last season. But I suppose you give it to the guys who are on form and Lucas was today. Mind you Lallana has missed for us before so no surprise to see him miss again.

The real issue is migs letting a fairly non threatening cross ball go straight through him. You can blame Mignolet as much as you want for the City goal, I was fuming when it went in but he kept us in the game with some great saves, City could have easily won by 3 or 4.

Lallana has missed for us before so no surprise to see him miss again. So has Coutinho. I just can't get my head around why our designated penalty takers didn't take important kicks!

Maybe they were saving them for the real pressure pens at the end? But I agree the best takers should go first.

Was Sturridge REALLY that shagged out that he couldn't even hobble up to take one, bless him?

Is Sturridge even a penalty taker? I seem to remember him missing a few?
