So how was Suarez playing at the world class level at Liverpool if he wasn't playing Champions League... So you believe in levels but don't believe players can be elevated to their own world class level? Again, redordead I think spangles is fixated on big occasions being the only test where you can prove you are world class which is a pity. That's probably why he brought up Steve Bull or whoever he was in the first place, to ask if he was world class because he stood out domestically. He's impossible to debate with because he's too narrow minded, little bit like me when it comes to tactics. sometimed the best examples are the most extreme ones that get a point over and that's where Steve Bull came in. There is no way you can put him on the same level footing as Rushie because he wasn't playing at the highest level to be judged wether or not he could step up, he might of but might not of there is a question mark and world class has no question mark because they have already achieved it. Suarez was a fantastic player for us at Prenoetdhip level, he flopped in the two biggest games he played in it and there were two no shows in the two cup finals too so there were question marks at the time of if he could produce in the main games. He never played at the champions league level so we don't know if he could make that step up, he has done since at Barcelona but the point I make is at Liverpool he never proved he could do therefore couldn't be regarded ad a world class level player... Whatever you believe is crap anyway, so who cares fantadtic response you have really contributed to the forum with that reply so well done, please keep up this sort of input with other posts you don't agree with as it shows how important your contribution to the forum is...

You can be a world class player regardless of where you play and in what competitions. Bale turned into one at Spurs as did Suarez with us. These players will always go onto better things as they have. So going on what you have just said Rooney was world Class at Everton, Lampard at West Ham or Thierri Henri when he was at Monaco, don't forget my mate Steve Bull he was at Wolves and as you say you can be world class regardless of where you play and what competition, your words not mine... No not at all. Rooney has never been world class, Henry became world class at Arsenal and I don't rate Lampard as world class. And your mate Steve Bull is an absolute crap example so I will forget him.

Difficult one this - sometimes you just know, albeit subjectively, that a player is world class. There was a window of approximately two years ( don't ask me to be precise with dates) when you could see that Michael Owen at the very worst was borderline world class - however,if it's based on putting it all on the table achievement wise, then you'll need Kavanagh QC to spell out your case...and on the subject of spelling I guess that the poor spellers sit with their back to a manager/es who they don't see eye to eye with and who is clocking them all day.

Rooney and Lampard are great players but you are again confusing what players have won with their ability. Gerrard has played at the very same level as those two and did for just about as long.
But for me Gerrard was a complete player. Tell me one attribute he didn't have to make him a world class midfielder on ability alone, which is what I judge a player on.

You mention Gerrard has played at the same level for just as long well how can that be when Lampard played in more European Cup semi Finals, the same amount of Finals where they both played two and won and lost one and Gerrard only played in one solitary league campagn where he challenged for the League while Lampard challenged and won in three and I won't count any of the UEFA or Domestic Cups as they are not majors.

Class isn't about greatest, it's about best. World class is concerning talent and ability; the attributes of a player. Greatest is another conversation.
