You're either world class or not Spangles, and you're not.

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

oh come on lumba I admit I am not world class...I am Legend class like Pele and Maradonna are better than world class, My presence on here has totally transformed and shook this forum up for the better, it had been boring and sterile for a while with everyone pussyfooting around, agreeing with one another and frightened to say somethin for fear of upsetting somebody haha. Thanks for the compliment tho, much appreciated mate...

He matched the all time premier league goal scoring record while not taking pens. He's world class now, he was world class with us.
was Gareth Bale world class at Spurs and Wayne Rooney at Everton...

Moot question as it does not address my point. Did either of them match the all time scoring record while there?

No, so it's not really comparable with Suarez's achievement, but I will say that Bale was world class there. Rooney has never been World Class.

Question: Was Alan Shearer world class at Newcastle?

Gerrard won everything there is to win at a club level, bar a league title and ballon d'or. 1 Uefa cup, 2 FA Cups, 3 league cups, 1 champions league, and 2 super cups. Because he didn't win the league, those suddenly don't count? A champions league medal is a bigger achievement.

Countless other world class players like Pirlo, Zidane, Henry, the list goes on have called Gerrard the best central midfielder they've ever seen.

Was Michael Owen not world class when he was here, winning the Treble and a Ballon?

The beauty of this forum is that people have always told it like it is regardless of who it upsets, you're more like a mozzie... I know , Mozzie Ardiles.

don't think Shearer was world class at Blackburn or Newcastle in my opinion. At Blackburn he scored an amazing quantity of goals there but when he stepped up to a higher level of the champions League after winning the League he couldn't manage it and flopped. At Newcastle he scored plenty of goals again but the biggest level league wise was playing at Old Trafford not the highest level in football to demonstrate you can handle it, he scored and performed in the champions league with Newcastle but never got out of the group stages so again not the highest level to demonstrate you belong at that top level. So the answer to your question is although Shearer was a top, top goal scorer the clubs he played for did not provide him with the platform to be world class and on the same level as Raul at Real Madrid for instance. Same applies to Suarez and Gerrard ar Liverpool, Bale at Spurs, Rooney at Everton and Le Tissier at Southampton...

Michael Owen was not and never has been world class, he was given the platform at Real Madrid and for whatever reason never took it...

He sat on bench at Real Madrid for most of his time there. How is that being given the platform?

Michael Owen in 2000/2001 was world class, you don't win the Ballon D'or unless you are.

if your good enough you don't stay on the Bench for long as your ability forces you in to the team.

Michel Owen won the Ballon D'ior for goals he scored in the League Cup, F.A.Cup final against Arsenal and the Goals in the Europa League where we beat Alves in the final, you can't seriously say these are the highest level games players play in, he also scored that hatrick against Germany which England won 5-1, worst German team in about 50 years so again not really a top level achievement. All these games and goals were in the same season as Raul who scored the same if not more goals in securing Real Madrid there own League and also broke the scoring record in the champions league all his goals and contributions were at a higher level than Michel Owens. So that should tell you everything you need to know about the credibility of the Ballon D'ior that season and the winner...
