There's a new scheme to be trialed at Liverpool FC in some ways I can see the logic but it's going to be interesting

It works like this if you are late for the game the club the club sells your ticket to another fan who is on a standby list at the game. The problem is there are fans who pay for the ticket and don't turn up.

I can see the logic however I travel via the east Lancashire road which is often roadworks one day last season we arrived 30 minutes into the first half when the council had left cones in the road reducing to one lane the council removed them after the game. The council (Knowsley) are supposed to liase with the club but didn't.

I wrote to the council got a long explanation I wrote to Liverpool FC and as you would expect I got zero reply the club being too important to talk to the likes of me

So there going to be some very angry scenes should events like this occur again with this new plan which is in its infancy

What's it got to do with the club if the council leave cones out when they shouldn't?

Hillsbourough partly occurred due to roadworks on the m62 thousands of fans arrived late it was a contributor to the tragedy. But in any event the club and the council have a statutory duty the police used to be involved but the government changed it it's the same for all events pop concerts etc

In terms of hillsborough it was known there was a possibility fans would be late because of the roadworks m62 but they ignored the issue. I was at both semi finals 88 and 89 I am convinced that error was significant

That is scandalous. There must be some legal recourse for the fans in such situations - I hope they sue the hell out of the contractors and central or local Government departments who allow these road "works" to constantly overrun the planned timetables.

I've had the misfortune to work in central Manchester during the course of many years and seen the same stretches of essential roads dug up time and time again. After a few hours of activity involving pneumatic drills, the odd dumper truck and JCB everything is left abandoned for weeks on end whilst dozens of the hi-vis clad brigade sit around munching pies and chips, drinking tea and wolf-whistling at any passing female aged between 15 and 50.

If you look at City and United they regularly have empty areas these are not unsold but corporate seats where the people don't turn up Liverpool have few corporate seats but will have when the new stand opens and this might be extended to other areas of the ground this is the problem the club are trying to address but it will apply to all ticket holders who maybe late for genuine reasons

There has got to be a method in the clubs madness to want to introduce this, they are obviously worried about empty seats in a bigger capacity looks bad. I wouldn't put anything past this club in terms of ripping off fans, the club is rotten to the core.
The way they ripp off season ticket holders is bad as it is as regards returning tickets...

I really don't see how they can do this. Who determine how late is too late to then sell the ticket on again? Seems a bit stupid to me.

It's a bit like when they tell you if you can't go the match they club say you must sell your ticket back to the club, the best part is, your season ticket seat is worth £53 a game and the club tell you when you sell it back to them they will give you £39 off the following seasons, season ticket, so they ripp you off for £14 , they then sell the same ticket to a person on the reserve list for £59, so they mske £34 on the ticket,,, absolutely priceless...

Faceless, highly-paid people in suits believe they can do anything and escape any serious consequences. The sad fact is, with Liverpool being a private limited company (by shares), they CAN do virtually anything, as the effectively anonymous "Limited Company" bears the brunt of their actions. Unless in circumstances which the overworked, understaffed, and unqualified staff employed by the Department for Trade and Industry almost NEVER investigate properly.

Wait for us to become a PLC, people. Shareholders and anyone with even the most basic computer knowledge will be able to obtain tiny details of boardroom members and their grovellers' greed. You can also properly comprehend the true perspective of pensions, trust funds, remuneration committees and expenses claims. Trust me, the figures are likely to blow your minds.
