I think we are long overdue a meaningless debate about whom you think was Liverpool's greatest ever player.

Answers such as I am too young to know of player x or it all depends what position we are talking about are forbidden you all know what is meant by greatest ever player

In my opinion it's close between Suarez and Barnes but I think Suarez edges it

People get confused with best and most successful.

So Suarez wins easily for me. Gerrard next as he could play anywhere and still be man of the match

i am glad you mentioned there is s difference between greatest and best Stan, be good if you could do a separate on greatest players, anyway for me the best was John Barnes, the man had no weakness in his game he was a nine out of ten in all departments of what the perfect player needs, Gerrard not far behind, Suarez sorry no way...

The other thing about Suarez was attitude I have never seen a more driven or hard working player ever not just at Liverpool but in football generally. There is a great interview today in the mail caragher interviewing Suarez and it gives insight into the man

You know what I'm going to say ha, not the greatest of course, but the best player for me is Fernando Torres, best lonestriker in the world at one point, won the Euros with spain, the man could ghost past players, heading ability was top draw, and as gerrard described 'magic' shame he had more international success than club success in reality. Would of spent more years at liverpool banging in the goals if the likes of mascherano, alonso, hadn't left, a lot of players coming out of their absolute prime, gerrard, carragher, reina. hyypia retiring, aurelio, reira leaving 'the sinking ship'.

As I've often said before I don't believe in ranking greatness, and I'd venture to say we had a greater share of greatness in our club than any other club in the league.
If you we're to list all the great players that played for LFC, you'd need a very long sheet of paper imo. Our great players have all been great in their individual and different ways, so how could one rank that in terms of one being greater than another?
