... did you expect us to challenge this season? I never. I haven't done for many years but at least now we know we have the squad to do it, especially if we spend well over the summer.

Going into next season will be the first time in a long time that I will have some confidence.

I didnt expect us to win the title at the start of the season but what has cost us at the end of the day is home draws to inferior opposition. How many times in the next few seasons will we do the double over both united and chelsea although I do believe we will not fear any team next season. I think this was our year and we let it slip. We may not get the same chance again for a number of seasons. United and Chelsea will spend big over the summer and we just cant compete with that. Fcuking Stoke!

I was hoping but not expecting. We were in it up until the loss to Boro. Had we won that game, we may have been in better shape, but what can you do. Onward and upward. At least we are not 22 points behind the pace anymore. We have a realistic challenge for next season and I am really excited.

Didn't expect to win it this season but I certainly do next season! Yes we have problems out wide and these need to get sorted which I hope they do over the summer but we have an excellent team and we now need to build strength on the bench which is what hurt us this season!
Manure has players like Tevez, Berbatov, Giggs, Scholes etc sitting on the bench in some games and we have players like Ngog, El Zhar, Lucas etc who lack experience at this level. This is one of the reasons we had so many draws!!!
I think our starting 11 are the strongest TEAM in the Prem but we lack the depth and numbers in our squad to compete against Manure.
Next season will be a different story and even Manure spend big over the summer, they still need to replace Ronaldo (who is destined to be departing) and Tevez. Although Giggs had a solid year he is that year older and the same goes for Scholes. These players are very valuable and difficult to replace so Manure will struggle to replace them no matter how much they spend.
To say United have more quality in the full back area may be true as individuals but as team I think we lack nothing and proof of that is the amount of clean sheets we have kept this season (second only to Manure). At the other end of the ground we have scored more goals than any other side in the Prem with Torres missing a large part of the season. Our midfield is probably the strongest in the Prem and in my opinion is only rivalled by Chelsea with Lumplard and Essien.
Bring on next season and I am already looking forward to it with much enthusiasm and belief that we will be the team to beat for the title.

I thought we had an outside chance of winning the title, and who knows if we had had a fit Torres and Gerrard... but that's hearsay, water under the bridge. It was always going to be hard to compete against clubs with so much financial muscle and experience.
We have gained an awful lot this season and there are far more positives than negatives. Taking this into next season and with a few quality additions, then next season could be our year!
