Are FSG (Flashy name) any different from Hicks and Gillet.

Take Linda the poster girl of FSG away and what are we left with.

Take away the FSG name.

Hicks and Gillett.

Replaced by

Henry and Werner.

Both balked at building a new ground, both unable to fund the players we need to get us back to the top.

Both sets of owners Hicks and Gillett, Henry and Werner never attend any matches.

Do they have any interest in football as a sport, watching the games.

I know if I was billionaire owner who loved football I would be at every single game.

Hell Romain attends most games at Chelsea.

I really think most fans have given FSG a free pass, purely on the Linda affect.

Would Hicks and Gillett fared so badly if they had a more attractive front of business?

I think public reaction would have been better towards them.

PR wins every single battle for you I reckon.

FSG have pumped their own money in to the club and allowed the clubs money to be spent on massive transfers. Compare our spending to any other non champions league team such as us. They have also taken action on the stadium. Although I think they could have done a lot more on that front, I think it is completely unfair to compare them to Hicks and Gillett who had no intention to do anything on the stadium front. What they did was disgraceful. Bought the club almost entirely with debt and had the club pay all of it for them. They even tried to sign all of the debt over to the club itself. As far as I'm concerned the decline in the club since 2009 is entirely down to them.

The problem with FSG is lack of football knowledge and in my opinion hiring the wrong people to advise them. This was reflected in the abysmal transfer policy and choosing of an inexperienced manager who wasted 300 million pounds and struggled to attract any top players to the club.

I do think though, now that we have a top class manager we will turn the corner. FSG regard LFC as an investment which they will improve and sell on at a profit and so money will keep being spent until they are in a position where they get the best price, which will be when the stadium expansion is done and we are in the champions league. As soon as that is achieved they are gone and god knows who we'll get, but it won't surprise me if they are a lot worse than FSG.

A new stand expansion is not improving the stadium.

Arsenal, Man City have impressive new stadiums.

West Ham are moving into one next season.

Chelsea and Spurs are building new stadiums.

What are we doing?

My opinion is that we should have built a new stadium too. However I don't think the comparisons are fair. Hicks and Gillett were taking 30-40 million out of the club per season to service their debt. FSG have actually invested money in the club.

I think people will find FSG and the gruesome twosome are pretty similar, they just move money around in different ways, I also think you will find it will be the fans who end up paying for that new tier over time, there is no way FSG would fund that out of there own pockets, watch this space for ticket hikes once completed...

Yes. Interest free loan injected in to the club. 52 million pounds. Thats a fact its in the clubs annual accounts. Own money put in. I don't know how the Stadium expansion is being funded, I believe they are funding it again through interest free loans.

Of course, they will expect to recoup all of that when they sell the club but it is a fact that they have invested their money into the club.

It's a very silly comparison. I'm not a big fan of FSG but five years after they bought the Redsox they won the league, then did it twice again in the next five years. They've turned the area around Fenway Park into a destination (nightclubs restaurants shops) , not just on game days.

Sure, they're player recruitment sucks donkey balls but H&G they're not.

In my opinion neither sets of American owners have been a patch on moores and he was bad. At least moores was a fan and could bring himself to watch the sport. We have been desperately unlucky with owners and it's not hard to see why the club is declining and I think long term we will fall further. The only bright spot is increasingly I could not give a sh&it

good stuff Stanley, I wish we still had Moores and he wasn't the best but you knew he had the Clubs best interests at heart not like this feller in now.
talking to an Everton mate about there proposed takeover, told him to be careful what he wished for as the Club would never be there own again and they would lose there local identity to a global faceless fanbase, Bill Kenwright is a bit like Moores in that you can see he genuinely cares about the Club
