Your original post talks about how we should be focusing on winning cups as the league is a dead end for us, now you say all Arsenal have done is win a couple of FA Cups, something that your desperate for us to do? What point are you trying to make?

The facts of the matter are Arsenal are streets ahead of us in every department.

If you look at Arsenal there main success was built on the back of cheaper players in fact like Veira, Petite, Toure and home grown and players already there like Adams and Bould e.t.c nothing to do with champions League...

well they should have, should have made the most of a substantial monetary bonus every season, despite city's advance, chelsea's struggles, and man utd's success petering out with fergie.

Wenger has held them back in my opinion. Part of the reason they haven't got in right in the market, is because of wenger's style. Arsenal haven't had a reliable goalkeeper, or top class striker since their last premiership title. They only reaped the rewards of 2 major Fa cups because they stuck with a manager who puts so much emphasis on passing, and midfield players scoring, they haven't score enough goals overall through their forwards, and haven't been strong, or consistent enough defensively, it's been a very mediocre arsenal side, they should be thankful van persie managed to silently rise under arsene and score 132 goals in 278 games otherwise they could have dropped out of the champions league places, and hanging on for their 4th place finish they have achieved fairly regularly as is well known.

If Liverpool were to get champions league qualification, then the aim would be to get out of the group stages, and into the knockout rounds. I don't think that would be an embarrassment but a very good sign the club can compete at the highest level, even if we then went back to not doing very well domestically again, ups and downs happen in football.

Don't seem to be getting any real sense here so I will try another way of putting things...when we look back in 10 years time at the season we finished second which will be regarded as the best season to us fans, not John Henry, not Tom Werner, not FSG or Le Bron James or whatever his name is...US FANS...finishing second or beating Cardiff City and Winning the League Cup, don't forget not what you enjoyed or liked or what was more beneficial to us as fans...

Coming second and getting back to the ECL no matter how short lived it was.

I don't see why people have given up on 4th. We've got a fair bit to make up points wise, and the way we've been playing it does seem unlikely, but it's certainly possible.

We're 8 points behind Spurs. If results go our way at the weekend that could easily be down to 5, and then Spurs still have to come to anfield, so win that and there's only be 2 points to make up. Given Spurs history of bottling it in the run in it could be done.

It may not be likely, but if you can't have hope, then what's the point of being a fan?

15 matches left in the premier league, like KP said, any form of consistency and you're going to climb the league. But do you see us getting any consistency? something that all teams this season have struggled for. if liverpool do win 8 in a row, or go unbeaten in 10, and finish the season strongly, I'm putting a cheeky, ridiculous bet on us challenging next season.
