Obviously I'm pleased we won today but there are so many weaknesses in our team and especially our defensive play, a lot of them come down needing a commanding presence at the back, someone in the mould of Hyypia or Carragher who will take responsibility and dominate aerially. None of our players today looked like they wanted to go and win a header, for the fourth Norwich goal we had Caulker, Toure and Sakho and none of them went and attacked a long ball that was punted towards them. It was the same for the first Norwich goal which as usual came from a corner and bounced around the area before being put in by their centre forward, Mbokani.

All four Norwich goals today were so easily avoidable, I've mentioned the first and fourth above but for the Naismith goal we had 4 players who just stood and watched him run into space, even then Mignolet has to make the save. As for Moreno and the third goal thats unforgivable and he needs to be dropped.

This is a major major problem for us and we won't get anywhere until this is sorted.

Agree, since Rodgers days we do not attack the ball, it was a bit better, but since our central first choices got injured, we are back to it. Understandable as Toure and Sakho should be starting if others were fit

Lol, I don't rate him, never will but you can't argue with an assist and a goal after coming off the bench, fair play.

I hear a lot of fans of top clubs saying that it's a poor league this year as their teams are getting beat by lower ones. Maybe it's just that the other teams have improved? Some of these so called lower teams have played some nice football.

I didn't see the game but checked near the end and couldn't believe we'd let 4 goals in!! If you can't win a game away from home by scoring 4 goals then there is something seriously wrong.

It needs sorting and if anything, has to be the biggest area for improvement in the summer or now. We could do with Texiera's goals but my god do we need a defence and new keeper!

We didn't start playing until we went 3-1 down, after this point we looked pretty good. I don't understand why we need to fall behind before picking up our game.

Indeed! And I think we don't even need new players to get it working better. We just need to f*cking start organizing the defence ffs!

Heard the pundits talk about this after the match too. They were showing up our poor defending on every goal we let in. My good how poor we are defence wise!

Here's a summary of their and mine observations:

1. At the corner that lead to their first goal the pundits picked up Emre Can as he first man marked a player. But that particular player didn't like Emre's manner so he started to run around to get rid of poor Emre. And do you know what? Emre suddenly lost interest in the player and instead started ball watching. Who headed the ball up to the goal? Emre's player of course! Also there were 5 ball contacts after the corner, where we had the chance to challenge and get the ball away. We lost 4 of those challenges, and at the 5:th Henderson didn't get the ball away far enough, so it came back in again. Too soft! We just have to do better and see to that we kick it up in the stands or something!

2. At their second goal I saw 4 LFC players ball watch as Naismith just cruised through on a 1-2! School boy mistake again, and Flappy's poor attempt at saving the shot wasn't much better that either!

3. The pen goal: What was Moreno doing there? Why attack Naismith from the outside? Why not try a block from inside instead (Moreno is left footed too, which should have made his challenge easier)? And what a soft penalty! Naismith just fell to pieces there, but I guess it was some kind of contact too.

4. At their 4:th goal we had none of our 3 tall CB's going forwards trying to head the ball away. Instead all of them fell back and opened up a gigantic space for Bassong to shoot the ball into the back of the net. Poor poor defending. Where was the gut and graft? Someone just have to get the ball away from goal! And again: Mignolet... Yet a poor attempt at saving! That shot didn't look unstoppable at all!

All in all a very poor football game (organization wise - both defence and attack) from both teams, where almost all the goals were gifts from the other team.

When will someone finally start organizing the LFC defence? I'm getting sick and tired of watching this sunday league type of display each and every week!

But what causes it though? Is it bad coaching or bad players / not the right type of players? I can't believe it's all coaching or lack of. Maybe just getting a top keeper who can organise them is all we need?

None of our players look at the ball when defending a corner, they are too busy trying to stop whoever they are marking getting a run on them! It would help if they watched the ball and attacked it like proper defenders.
