He is a write off the club should make him do work visiting schools charity work and when not doing that manual work like cleaning the stadium. I would imagine there is nothing in his contract that specifies he has to play football rather than pay him to sit playing on his mobile we might as well get some value from the bone idle sod.

I understand that people are frustrated with Sturridge's injury record, but I actually think he does want to play. To say he is lazy or unprofessional is, I think, just insulting him for the sake of it.
I think Klopp needs to be more pragmatic with Sturridge, recognise that when he plays we are more threatening, and lighten his training expectations accordingly. I'd rather Sturridge played 12 more games this season at something near his best level of fitness - whatever that may be, than no games at all because he can't complete the training schedule in its gruelling entirety.
If Klopp doesn't let up on Sturridge, he'll never play for us again - but he may then move to a club that adopts a different approach to his training, whereupon he manages 30 odd games and scores 20 odd goals. We have no striking options beyond a Firmino that is finding his feet and a Benteke that is ill suited to our style. I'd love to see Sturridge play the first half tomorrow - even if it is only the first half and even if he's not quite fully fit.
I worry that our injuries are down, in part, to the mismatch of Klopp's training and the more intense seasonal demands (more games) on PL players.

Many years ago, John Toshack did a proportion of his training in a swimming pool because his knees were a state. The club adapted its approach to him and kept him playing.
More recently, Ledley King carried on at Spurs, despite being incapable of normal training.
Being aware of what a player is worth and realising that to get the best out of them may require some rest that other players don't need, is nothing new.
The alternative approach, which you appear to endorse, is that we should train Sturridge without regard to his injury record, force a regular break down, and never see him in a red shirt again, despite him being one of our better players. How is that a good return for his wages?

John toshack probably had a defined medical condition Klopp has said recently he has no idea what's wrong with Sturridge Gerrard also in his book said he feigned injury. Can you tell me exactly what is up with him now? Some undefined muscle strain no doubt, The guy is bone idle and a cheat and unprofessional. He has talent but if he never plays that is of no value

It's a mental thing I'm telling ya. I think to say he's just swinging the lead is a bit over the top, especially when we don't know the ins and outs. I recall the club bringing in a psychiatrist last season or the one before to help him. Dr Peters or whatever his name was. It hasn't helped so I don't think its mental, his body is just too fragile.

Very harsh Stan with no facts to back any of it up.
The lad loves football, to say he would prefer to sit on the bench all season and be frowned upon as some sort of outcast is ridiculous. Who wants to go to work limping about in training everyday deliberately to then watch all your team mates be out there playing every Saturday?
To find another player like him would cost £30 million? Dream on, in 2016 try £50 million plus. He doesn't just add a little to our game when he plays, we are virtually unbeatable.
So cancel his contract are some of the cries? £160 grand a week! Do people understand how much that would cost for him then to walk into any club he wishes?
I agree totally with D500, his training needs tailoring (if it isn't already) and it takes as long as it takes. I don't care if it sounds mad, I'd have sent him off to Barbados or similar for 2 weeks in the pool and warm climate, get in the sinew of the muscles away from the freezing Northern wind and damp that creeps in the bones as soon as Christmas had finished. This is about the long term with a player of this quality.
Yes he is that good and if he gets over this hurdle will be our Aguero for next season without doubt.

The problem is that there are a few stories now from people who are saying that he has to be perfect to play a game. Was it the story were Suarez and Gerrard pleaded with him to play in a utd game that he did not want to play and he ended up scoring the winner. Now with all these injuries comebacks, ready one week and not the next, Klopp saying he needs to handle pain better. People are putting 2 and 2 together. Now this is his job that he gets 150k a week right? In my job and a lot of others people's job you would probably get sacked or get a good kick up the hole and be told to stop being a fanny. But footballers are a different bred.... If he does ever get back, then he needs to put in neck on the line for this team. But he won't do that the next little niggle in an important game he will most likely sit it out

100% agree. It's funny that these posters skating Sturridge are the first to defend others when they're harshly judged. Take Growler and his defending of Borini for example. I personally think the shitte being said about him is disgraceful. All players should have tailored training needs as all played have different bodies and capabilities. Why is it a no no for Sturridge? I'm sure there will be training drills that they all do but there's no harm in having individual training needs.
