He's suited for mid table clubs that play direct football. Unfortunately we don't play that way.
He's not a bad striker. Just the wrong team for him.
I bet you my last dime that if he returns to AV, he'll be banging goals in again because they tweak the team to play to his strengths, not the other way round here.

Well I'm not writing him off just yet. He's shown he can score goals at the top level. For me it is still a case of us not using him right. At Villa he always played with a partner which he hasn't here.

32.5 mill for that lazy lump! I thought that Ayre & FSG couldn't fritter away money as frivolously as they did when we bought Balotelli...I was wrong!
Most fans stated what a mistake it was to buy Benteke at the time, I stated many times elsewhere and to friends that he is a square peg for a round hole and would never suit our style of play...I'm yet to be proven wrong. The sad part is that we'll be lucky to get half the outlay for him.

Well I'm not writing him off just yet. He's shown he can score goals at the top level. For me it is still a case of us not using him right. At Villa he always played with a partner which he hasn't here.  urgh come on wilkij even when we use him right, it's more to do whether we can still play someone alongside him, because villa got the best out of him they finished 3 points of relegation last season. Yes our defence is better, midfield/attack mid better but will time to get used to relegation football as delph etc did, can you honesty say we're going to have long term success if we only score from crosses and runners off him like villa?

shocking simply. it might be valid for recent games when he didnt have service ...i only remember what a feck up he made out of clear chances n service he would get...32m down the drain for me

But when all is said and done, his output for a 32million signing has been very poor.
I think our signing committee gets taken up the garden path by rival clubs at time. I remember all the Villa bods Sherwood etc claiming Benteke had a 32million get out clause and he would only go if someone met the clause.
Like fools we did.
We should have stood back and said you can have 20million max, if you don't take it we walk away.
I just don't understand our finance people at times.

Only a third of his goals have been headers I think I read. And we did well with Owen running off Hedley didn't we? because aston villa counter attacked with benteke in the team at times (something we can't do, counter attack effectively with him in the team), got the ball out wide stuck it in the box, their midfield were used to that style of football. Football was easier back then, you are kidding yourself if you think it wasn't. Exactly wilkij his qualities aren't only his heading, they are his volleying, and his shot power, how do we bring that out without finishing 3 points off relegation? - We don't without difficulty, unless we can make the 442 dia work, aka he has a strike partner, as I'm bleating on about. Funny how you deny he's a target man though, when so many long balls are played to him pmsl

The price tag is irrelevant. Even for an 8mil striker he hasn't been good enough.
His confidence is low despite scoring early on. He misses easy chances. Can't score if he has too much time on the ball. He looks lazy. He seems to spend most of his time trying to win the ball on the wings and just doesn't look like a good striker. He would be suited to Chelsea. But for us he is useless.
Yeah he scored a bicycle kick. He also missed two one on ones and when there was no keeper.
We are gonna get rid and he'll be another Andy Carroll or we will keep him and he will be another heskey.

Also, if you look at how Klopp played at Dortmund, he'd fit well. He played two wingers with one behind so maybe when the right players are here we'll do the same? Look, I know he's not doing the business. But just writing players off so early is just stupid especially when we've been playing so badly as a whole. Let's just wait and see how he and we get on when we have a few less injuries and if he gets a chance with a partner. He might still be cack and if so then is the time to be calling him [oops].
