Lovren has looked really good lately, and I never thought he was a bad player. Rodgers just couldn't make up his mind on how he wanted his defense to play, and the indecision showed in the defenders. Look at how well Moreno came on after he left.
If anything Liverpool are holding moreno back still, he would suit a team where he could go forward as Dani Alves is able to for Barcelona. We've basically asked moreno - be an awfully good chap and don't get forward as much. You're right though moreno has improved, but as a complete fullback, not a charging defender, even though we see glimpses of that occasionally (him getting into dangerous positions and taking shooting opportunities), not enough, or as much as he could, because the team is setup to get results- and rightly so (klopp even talks about now getting stability in the performance...even though the performance doesn't always get you the result so I'm massively confused by that).
I wonder if we'd lost to leicester you'd be saying moreno has improved on the other hand, and if the team is playing well then it's hard to find excuses for individuals not to, unless they are played out of position.
