Seems to be dividing opinion at the moment. My view is that he should be given a run in the team. After all, he is a proven goalscorer in the premier league... and not just with his head.
We paid £32m for him - surely we can't doubt him, let alone give up on him. As he showed today, even if his all round game could be improved - as a striker he has the ability to take advantage of half chances.
I think playing without strikers only works against the likes of Arsenal, Man City - the teams that try to play 'cultured' football, building from the back etc. But against the rest we should always play at least one proper striker - and that means Benteke now that all the others are crocked. We can then review things at the end of the season.
'I was only in the game for the love of football - and I wanted to bring back happiness to the people of Liverpool.' Bill Shankly
'We should have made a signing or two in the last couple of transfer windows.' Vish

I suppose playing him to get value from our over priced investment is a fair argument but there is no other reason to play him. I never thought I would say it but origi seems the better player both as we stand and potentially. Benteke is like Heskey but without the workrate or team play (Heskey made a lot of goals for Owen)

Don't you think it's a bit too soon to reach that conclusion?

I think the comments about Benteke on this site are a bit naive really. He's not set our team alight but he's scored a few important goals - and from all different positions. He's scored in the air, on the swivel, shooting from the edge of the area, and good poacher goals. I wouldn't read too much into his miss today - he made the wrong decision but it's not like he was the only one to do that. He scored loads of goals in a poor Villa side - and clearly needs good wingers to help him fire. He's coming back from injury and trying to adjust to Klopp's style. For all the stick he gets on here - he's still the most likely to score after Sturridge. Today's goal wasn't a shabby finish either. Klopp appears not to rate him he did not start today and not for the first time I agree he is not useless like aspas and he will get goals but he is not top quality for me he is a decent average prem striker probably worth half what we paid.

But as for Benteke his general play and Iink up is poor as for sticking the ball in the net he is hardly clinical as we saw today and other occasions Benteke is ok but no top player and for £32m we have a right to expect more
