There's too much Rodgers in them. so what about chelsea, MCFC , southampton was it BR then ?? As I remember, we did perform ok against the top teams with Rodgers (not always winning) but then reduced ourselves to league 2 standards against the lesser teams as we are here. We also ALWAYS go to shitte when there's something to play for, just like now. When did we ever perform okay against top opposition under Rodgers apart from the occasional win against city? As far as I remember, the only top team we didn't beat under Rodgers was Chelsea. Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but we always seem to be able to raise our game against the better teams but fall apart against lower teams, just like now. Beating City and Chelsea means absolutely fukk all now!

Back to the orginal post yes I have no idea what firminho does what his position is or why we bought him. Benteke looks very average also £60 million plus their contracts blown away on nothing In scouting Firminho looked great, scores, assisted, defends, he had several good games with Liverpool but still can't find the right pace with his teammates, he is only as good as the movement around him Another problem is he doesn't go for the 50\50 balls, one of those players that need a season to settle. Benteke needs players that go outside, seems all the balls we try to play are from the middle, balls played from the sides are very very rare, be they high or low, almost all the goals he did score came from the few balls we managed to pass from the sides

In that season we battered everybody except Chelsea, so we cannot make that a trend, can we?

I'm confused, surely you don't mean Firmino has had several good games with Liverpool? He's played well once since joining us and that was Man City away.

All I'm saying is we tend to PLAY better (not always WIN) against the better sides. My explanation on this is that they better teams want to win and play open. We struggle against those team parking the bus because we rarely score on set pieces (which is crucial against teams parking the bus) and our forwards accuracy and goals to shot ratio is poor. My take on that is we need to find a Ruud VN type striker the fox in the box type. I've watched our strikers and usually they need too much time to shoot, their reaction time is too slow, in overcrowded last 3rd of the pitch it doesn't work.

My view on Firmino. No left foot. Push him to the left and he will run in a circle. No guts. Falls over like a girl too easily and too often. Compare him to Suarez. There is no comparison. I don't rate Firmino I am afraid.

Exactly. Just another Lallana type of player.
What did we need him for. We already had Lallana for £ 25 M. Now we also have Firmino for £ 29 M. Great business!
My god just how many similar ACM players did BR need?
On top of those 2 we already had our best player in Coutinho. And guess what: He is also an ACM! Stupidity or was it just a new stock piling philisophy?
0 good goalkeepers and twentyeleven ACM's - all not good either, but anyway!

This is ridiculous. He hasn't fully adapted yet, but he's young and doesn't speak the language. Look how long it took Lucas to adapt. Give him time. Look at the way he performed in Germany, and you know he can do what we need him too. Spunking money every season on new players because the ones we bought haven't adapted is short sighted and insane.
