With Lucas and Couthino out I'd feel a lot better with him back in even for 20 minutes. While Swansea are in poor form they work the ball and we are vulnerable to a draw here. Be interesting to see if Klopp puts his arm round the lad and they have the necessary chat?

The only contact Sturridge needs is a swift kick up backside!

Looks like he is going to be the 1st casualty of the intensive training sessions of the Nornal one.

I understand the frustration and the point Donut, but I'm hoping when he gets back on the field something might change as long as he comes through it unscathed. Klopp has said he still believes patience is the right approach and I agree.

Unless we are prepared to stump up £50 million plus on a replacement where do we go? We'll be lucky to get £10 as is.

I see Klopp has now come in the press saying Sturridge needs to understand what serious pain is confirming what we already know the guy is a lazy sick note who has been getting away with this far too long

I've been ok with his injuries to date as these things happen, but this last one has sort of left a bad taste in the mouth. I'm torn now between "he's a fantastic talent" and "sell him on to send out a message to the rest of the squad"

I don't think we'd have to pay anywhere near the money mentioned to replace him, maybe half. I just wish he'd sort himself out in all honesty and all the talk of shifting him on became null in void.
Guess we just have to see how he responds after this latest set back smile

Sturridge signed a new 5 year contract with LFC on October 3:rd 2014. He will thus be here until October 2019.

Sturridge is earning around £120,000 a week basic salary and it can reach £150,000 a week if he meet his performance clauses in the contract.

Now, how possible would it be that we manage to off load him to another club with that information at hand?

Who in their right mind would take him off our books by matching that salary package - for (mostly) one piece of injured player? And on top of that LFC won't let him go for free. I'm sure we at least would want to recoup the lion part of what we paid for him. At least around £10 M in other words.

Hence we are stuck with him for yet another 4 years! Lex Joe Cole applied once more, folks! frown

Jamie Carragher feels Liverpool may be forced to sell Daniel Sturridge due to his ongoing injury problems – and feels he’s becoming better known for his injuries rather than his goals.

The Liverpool striker suffered yet another fitness set-back on Thursday when he was withdrawn from the club’s Europa League squad for the game against Bordeaux with a foot injury. A scan later revealed no serious injury.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has indicated he’s starting to lose patience with Sturridge, who has yet to feature under his management, telling him he must learn the difference between “serious pain and only pain”.

Writing in his column in the Mail, Carragher commented: “The one thing I remember most of all from being his team-mate is that he had to feel 100 per cent right mentally and physically in order to play.

“The thing is, with professional football, it’s not often any player will take to the field 100 per cent fit. There is always a knock or something niggling and when that is the case, you just grit your teeth and get through it.

“But Sturridge’s continued unavailability is presenting Liverpool with a problem now. If they put him up for sale, every top club bar Manchester City would take him over their strikers, but how long can Liverpool wait for him to be ready?

“Do the club start to think they need to move him on, to get a good fee and save on his big wages?

“Christian Benteke’s arrival was a statement from the owners and Brendan Rodgers that they could no longer rely on Sturridge and it looks as if Harry Kane has overtaken him with England through his consistent availability and his performances.

“I’m a massive fan of Kane but a fully-fit Sturridge is better. Daniel’s problem now, though, is that he’s being remembered more for injuries than goals. And he is the only man who can change that perception.”
