The advantage with Internet is that posters are invisible and they are not ashamed to make a fool of themselves. Djibril hardly played as he was still recovering from his bad injury, unless he was the one who scored the winning goal against Olympiakos.
I meant Garcia, not Djibril. Point still stands. Gerrard is treated like a hero after the Champions League, maybe because he's British, I don't know, but he was pretty much anonymous throughout. It was a great team effort, Rafa was unbelievable and the standout player was Luis Garcia, not Gerrard. After that he tried his hardest to get his dream move to Chelsea 3 times. I don't understand the hero worship at all.

Anonymous? Yeah ok. It's a shame when 'LFC' fans think its acceptable to belittle Steven Gerrard, I don't understand it at all. The only thing you have said correctly in this thread is that it was a great team effort, Luis Garcia got a number of goals yes but defensively we were rock solid. Each player in that team that played a role in Istanbul and the road too deserves huge credit! To take credit away from the captain of that team is very poor judgement.

Easy mistake to make, one is a white Spanish male, the other a black French male who spent the vast majority of the 04/05 season out injured with a horrific broken leg.

I don't understand the hero worship at all. You don't even know what you are saying, it's pretty obvious, how can anybody get confused between Djibril and Garcia. SG was so anonymous that he was elected THE BEST player of the tournament. You won't understand because you are intellectually limited. Regarding Chelsea, only ignorants don't know that Mourinho tried to sign him 3 times as he stated only a few months ago. You are a real clown. I'm am not British by the way.

If it wasnt for Stevie G playing his best football for rafa, rafa wouldnt have won a thing...Steve owes rafa nothing.
Bull [oops]. Rafa had a few youth titles, a couple of Promotions, 2 la ligas and a UEFA cup without Gerrard. Go and look at the champions league again, Gerrard barely played a key role in getting to the final, it was all about Djibril and even in the final Hamann played a more important role in helping us win than Gerrard. It's pure myth that Gerrard won the champions league single handed, he was still sulking at the time that houllier had gone, whilst trying to get in bed with mourinho. No one said he won it by himself but realistically you could have replaced Garcia with a load of other players and we still would have won. Stevie G was irreplaceable...Legend

I think people need to go back and look at what his contribution actually was.
Gerrard was a massive burden on LFC for years, I hope he never returns and undermines the club again.
Nearly joined Chelsea on 3 separate occasions, only stayed due to bumper new deals and a lot of controversy at the time involving threats.
Wrongly got given the captains armband from Hyppia; the last true captain of the club.
Wrongly campaigned to drive Rafa out the club.
Undermined Kenny on many occasions.
Airing dirty laundry in public, slating Rafa and others at any opportunity.
Having his say on everything and causing controversy such as penalty gate.
Telling the press that Brendan is the best manager he has worked with and he would have won titles a decade earlier. Complete bull-[oops] and just a petty dig at Rafa and Kenny.
Inviting Suarez back to Melwood when we were struggling, completely undermining Brendan.
Left the club when he got a deal which benefitted his pocket. Rather than staying in a lesser role on less money. Then doing a U-turn an blaming the club for leaving, it was his choice after all.
His [oops] book.

His [oops] book. Just about everything you said is wrong. Gerrard took a pay cut to move to MLS. He could have stayed or moved to Qatar and earned more. Without Gerrard Rafa wouldn't have won a single trophy. Arguably Liverpool's best ever player and best midfielder in the premier league era.

You're right he could have stayed, where he would have had a massive pay cut, become a bit part player with a view to becoming a coach, he chose not to, instead he went to the MLS where he's getting paid more money than he would have here, he thought he was going to be top dog and win everything, instead he went there and he struggled big time.
Rafa had already won 2 la ligas and a UEFA cup, before he even met Gerrard. So to say he wouldn't have won a single trophy without him is pure [oops]. It was also Rafa who had to convince Gerrard to stay after Houllier left. Rafa made Gerrard the great player he was. It's funny that after Rafa left, Gerrard become mediocre again.
Gerrard is not the greatest player to ever play for us, Kenny is and there's quite a few others ahead of Gerrard as well. Don't think he's the greatest Premier League player to play for us either. I can think of quite a few selfless players who would make my team ahead of him.
