we all know from a previous post that the fee for aquilani is 20m, but paid in 4 installments.

Thus far we have paid ten million for aquilani, not 20million.

I suspect teh same happend with Kean deal. (Im not sure)

This is how a website reports today, making it seem rafa blasted 20million:

Liverpool have been linked with Ever Banega.

Rafael Benitez is apparently preparing an £8m move for the Valencia midfielder who is described in some quarters as the new Xabi Alonso. So no pressure there then.

The transfer could be funded by the selling of Alberto Aquilani, although there is now way Benitez will recoup the £20m he spent on the Italian.

This is what is reported on another site:

Benitez is believed to have told the board that he wants to stay at Anfield but that he must be handed a transfer budget to bring in new players. For the last two seasons, Liverpool have been running a transfer surplus.
It is understood that Rafa has also been seeking assurances that any money raised from player sales will be re-invested in to the squad and not on the reds enormous debt payments.

I thought aqua came good towards the end of the season.

I'm sure we're all well aware of the aquilini payment method, but when things didn't go right with him, everyone - former reds, media pundits, and fans alike were quick to critisize Rafa on how he watsed £20 million on aqua, when in fact we have only paid 10 - even at that I wouldn't say aquaman was a waste of money.

he was promised cash from sales before and he did not get all the money he raised. If I were him I would be cautious who he sells on.

Anything for the press to bash us and Benitez.

Rafa has always had his hands tied when it comes to transfers. He's had to sell before he buys etc. and I bet he was promised all the money from the Alonso sale which he never got. If he did get it all, i'm sure he would have bought another striker. But, he has bought some sh!t to this claub and I for one have given up trusting him with LFC's money.

Totally agree. Imagine he sells Torres and Gerrard for a combined sum so he can rebuild and is only given £10m back! What then?

you say his hands were tied, you say he never got all the money from sales, you say he has brought sh1te to the club - I say he had no choice but to bring players who are not good enough for Liverpool with whatever money he was given

what the hell are you lot talking about? it doesn't matter how much we have paid so far for aquaman - the point is we have agreed to pay over 18million for him ...... we have only paid 10mill so far but we still have to pay the rest - whether we sell him or keep him we still have to pay for him!!! what is so difficult to understand about that?
