Yep the bookies normally get it right - I noticed we have gone out to 16/1 to win the league next year too.

looks like he is staying though

"For any manager, when you have a bad season, you want to improve and change things and I think it has to be this way.

"I think all the managers, especially when they are in England and are at a club for a long time, will have good moments and bad moments.

"It depends," he said when asked if he was worthy of a reprieve. "'Senior sources' maybe will say different but it has been the same in the history of football."

He added: "Every meeting helps, in one way or another, and at this moment we have to talk about everything.

"Hopefully the second meeting will be as positive as the first one...but the press continue with the same agenda.

"I think for the stability of the club it is important because we have to move forward on everything. Hopefully we can progress with our next meeting."
"In football every year you cannot win and win and win. You can see Chelsea winning (the Premier League), not winning and now winning again so it can happen."

The way I see it is that Rafa is not a complete muppet when it comes to his personal finances and reputation.

He won't resign because he would loose out on a big pay off.
The Yanks won't sack him because they would have to pay him off. They don't need the hassel of trying to replace him as they are trying to sell the club. If new owners take over, they may want to bring in their own man, so Rafa gets a big pay off. If they don't sack him, he would presumably get a big tranfer budget to play with and one more season to redeem his managerial reputation.
If Pool bounce back, then Rafa looks great again and renegotiates an extension to his contract. If Pool have another miserable season then Rafa gets sacked and gets a huge pay off.

Rafa wins either way.

The damage could be done by Xmas. I still prefer a new manager with new ideas.

Even a good run at the start of the season guarantees nothing. Remember ManUre in the 80's winning their first 10 league matches and finishing 4th, Pool won it that year.
But a good start is a positive sign that the club could have turned that corner.

true what you're saying.

i think the scenario will be that he will be staying, he will sell players and spend what he generates from those sales. that won't be enough but i think new owners will be in place during the autumn so i can see us splashing some cash in january...

frustrating to think about it right now though...
