Transfer fees could go if Fifpro wins legal action against Fifa.

Hope they win.

Won't that just mean more money to the players and the clubs who can afford to pay better salaries will get the best players as it is now? The problem will I think be more acute for the smaller clubs who depend on transfer fees selling their players to survive. Fifpro works for players and I see them the main winners here. That would be the end of small professional teams in my opinion especially in poorer countries. They won't even invest in training infrastructure as they won't afford it. Not sure what you think will be better than now.

I think the best thing we can do to level the playing field is bring in salary caps.

I agree with vish this was my first thought it would widen the gap between rich and small clubs, create an elite group of big clubs and players would be prima donnas the like of which we have never seen

I think each club should only have a set amount to spend on wages depending on the league your in. So if someone wants to go and give stupid wages to a player, it limits what they have to give to the rest. It'd have to be done globally though or all the players would just move to a country not imposing the rule

Be interesting this, have players getting 10 year contracts instead of 2-4. Employment rights will inevitably follow a pro player trajectory so I could see this passing.

I'm with Vish and Stan here. this is a stupid idea! The rich clubs will just pile more money into wages and still get the best players will the clubs they leave will get nothing. Don't see how this will help anyone in football bar the already massively paid players.

The article mentions a cap on squad sizes though, meaning that clubs like Real and Chelsea won't be able to stockpile talent. They might pay the most for some of the best but they won't be able to stockpile. Right now Chelsea and city and real can buy 30 of the best and stockpile just so competitors don't get them. Athat won't be possible with a squad size cap.

Factor in the quotas for home grown players etc and all of a sudden a cap on squad size has a huge impact.

Simplifying it to much might make it appear like it's just a move to get players more cash but the impact is much greater than that.

Yeah that loan thing is disgraceful atm. Chelsea are buying payers just to stop their rivals getting them. 30 players out on loan atm.

Jesus, 30 players out on loan from Chelsea....that's insane. As I said all these will have a much bigger impact than most realize, especially if they simplify the issue like Vish has.

Also, if we don't have to pay 30mil for a player, just imagine how much we could offer in wages, it will level the field out as no club is going to offer a million a week in wages no matter how rich they are but those clubs who can't afford to offer 250k a week will all of a sudden be able to.
