Am i the only one who isn't suffering from dillusions of grandeur with regards to this lad??
Yes he is young, he is ok, at the moment, i would say average at best, but some of the posts i have read on this forum are astonishing, some even suggest him as a direct replacement for Sterling!
I dont know if that is bitterness for the way Sterling left, but surely, you would put that to one side when rating another player.
We now have a dveelopment whereby Markovic is off on loan, because the club clearly believe Ibe as a better option. I am absolutely gob smacked.
This is a kid who only last season went out on loan to Derby County, an yes, he did ok, but that was it, at no point did he set the world alight in the championship!
Add this to the first 3 games he's had this season, well, 3 games where he was almost none existent, I really cant see what the fuss is about.
He is a young lad, even promising, but that really is the best from what i can see, clearly, many disagree!

Nobody really went overboard with him, more a hope he could be sterlings replacement as you say he is very young so he needs to be allowed some breathing space and not have many whats the fuss about threads about him. Talented player ,seems to have the right mentality, hopefully develops into a first team regular.

i actually really like the lad and think in time he will be a quality player just like last season for us. he seems to have a good head on him and that will see him make most of his natural talents. imo he will be a major part of our team in the near future
i wouldnt be in the slightest surprised if he ends up being better then sterling

He's much better than his reason league performances. He instantly looked better than Markovic when he returned from loan last season & hopefully he'll recapture that form. I actually thought at times he was better than Sterling last season.
He's still extremely raw and has a whole lot of improving to do if he's going to make it here though.

He played well last season. Looks very nervous this season. Not taking his chance so far, but I recall Sterling going through a similar thing. No reason he can't be better than Sterling, just as quick and his end product could hardly be any worse. He needs some games on the bench, come on against tired legs against the lesser sides.

Important thing is that we should keep hold of markovic, play him wide and see what he can do. Ibe is still too young to be our only option in that position.

i wouldnt be in the slightest surprised if he ends up being better then sterling Thats how I read it too, Sterling can’t kick the ball for nuts, and possibly never will or he’d be doing it by now. Ibe on the other hand has a decent shot and at his age has great potential.
