It's all early days Stan - every year people think an outsider performing well will break into the top 4 like Southampton or Swansea... then there's the teams that look unbeatable in the first 10 / 12 matches that lose their way (seen this with City, Arsenal & Chelsea in the past)...

.. as long as we just plug away and get results, we can deal with where we're at in the new year smile The football landscape changes drastically within 2 / 3 matches, trying to predict anything after the third week in is pure madness.

I agree I always think you can't form a decent view until about October but that won't stop us trying

He's very fast. I don't see how that wouldn't be easily observable, but he hasn't played very often. His biggest problem is he's so starved for minutes, when he does finally get a game, he tries to do too much. He needs some time.

And yes, I am sure. In the Basel game before that bizarre red card, against Tottenham, against Sunderland, and in the latter two his goals were the difference between a win and a draw. His 8 cup goals were also instrumental of getting us to the semifinals in both domestic cups.

???8 cup goals??? You must be talking about a different Lazar Markovic to me then! The one I'm thinking of, who plays for Liverpool FC, certainly didn't score 8 cup goals last season!

Ok, hands up, made a mistake. When I was looking up stats, I misread them and added his goals from Benfica by mistake. He only scored 3 last season.

His performances against Basel, Tottenham, City, and Sunderland were very promising though, and his goals against spurs and sunderland were matchwinners.

He scored the first in a 3-2 win against Spurs so not a match winning goal. He did have some promising performances though.

A bit thin for a 20m player, don't you think? Though it is true he hasn't played a lot by BR for whatever reasons

Where did you get the stats from Red???

I had a quick look on Wiki earlier and it said he only had three goals total last season - I know people can mess about and change Wiki pages so it could be wrong, what page do you use?

I don't think you can say the first goal of a 3-2 victory is the match winner, without the first goal which Markovic scored the game might have been very different.
