Has predicted the league table since the 2011/12 season, just wondered how often he got the actually final table right?
He has predicted the table (with positions) in each of the last four years...
@ the top
The "predicted" champion always finishes in the top three, sometimes 2nd (50% chance).
The team "predicted" to finish 2nd, usually wins the league (3/4).
The "predicted" third place, usually finishes below 3rd (3/4) - 4th, 6th, 7th.
The "predicted" fourth place usually finishes below 5th (3/4) - 6th, 6th, 8th.
The team "predicted" to be fifth has never finished below it, and has usually finished in the top four (3/4), but never been subsequently Champion.
Sixth has never been "predicted" correctly, as likely to finish above as below.
@ the Bottom
Teams "predicted" to be last, never do, finishing as often in 19th, as above the relegation zone.
Teams "predicted" 19th have never been relegated.
Teams "predicted" 18th usually get relegated (3/4).
Being "predicted" 17th means you're staying up.
Teams "predicted" 16th/15th/14th/12th generally stay up (3/4).
In the Middle
Teams "predicted" to be 13th sometimes go down (2/4).
Stoke are the first team he predicted a correct position for of any team between, and including, 8th and 16th (9th).
No team "predicted" above 12th, not including, has been relegated that season.
Obviously, this is just a bit of fun, but it suggests...
Arsenal are likely to win the league.
Chelsea will finish in the top three.
Man City will struggle to make the top four.
Man Utd will struggle to make fifth place.
Liverpool will finish at least fifth, and likely in a CL place.
Spurs could finish in mid-table or in a CL place (50% chance)
Watford have a 50% chance of going down.
Leicester will stay up, again.
Norwich will likely be relegated.
Sunderland will stay up.
Crystal Palace, West Brom, Aston Villa and Bournemouth could find themselves in a relegation battle.
Newcastle might surprise a few and get relegated (50% chance).
Likely won't mean anything, and just a bit of fun, but I didn't realise just how unpredictable the league can be, especially when Phil McNulty is one of the best around at predicting league positions.http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33751507
