Ok I know he's a budding young talent but I'm flabbergasted at the figures being touted - 26m rejected and everton holding out for 34m? For an unproven defender?

Makes the 49m deal for sterling looks cheap considering raheem is already an english first team attacking player.

And yes, makes the Benteke deal look like a bargain!

I have to say, I think Stones will fully justify the price tag. He's a real talent. I thought we should have gone for him last season.

Yeah me too, he's their replacement for John Terry and if he goes on to have half the career Terry has had he'll be well worth the money.

The fact that Everton have rejected £26M is indicative of his potential. If he was readily replaceable, they'd have taken the money. He's a great player now - and will probably get better. Chelsea tend not to over-pay for young players. They see him as first team ready. Once he joins them, you'll see how good he is.

He is very talented and English so his fee will be massive, he could prob do with another season with Everton but to learn of maureen and terry be too tempting.

It's not irrelevant at all, its like comparing a Steven Gerrard to Jamie Carragher, one is a box to box midfielder who wants to influence the game where as the other is a defender first and foremost.

I would agree that Ross Barkley hasn't lived up to the hype but John Stones looks the real deal, hence why Chelsea are after him. Plus he will get so much better learning off the likes of John Terry.
