Why didn't he get any game time in either Brisbane or Adelaide?
He was brilliant against Thailand and despite his age and injuries, he looks like something special.
I've heard rumours that Brendan doesn't rate him?

Can only imagine not playing over the last two matches may spell the end for him with us, devastated if that's the case.

We will have a lot of games this season and I would have expected him to be back up to Coutinho & Lallana either in the hole of a diamond or left of a 3.
Really hope he sticks around and plays a part.

He's a young fringe player. We've got a lot more players better than him in his position(s). We've had all this fuss with Pacheco, Suso and others. Is this going to be another example of an overhyped youth player?

Probably.

If you look at Sterling, Flanno, Michael Owen (although slightly different back then) there wasn't all this overhyped anticipation because they were seen by the club as good enough to challenge for positions in the team and so were picked and made an instant impression.

If he's good enough he will be picked. If not, he won't. So far he clearly hasn't been good enough.

Hasn't been good enough? He was our academy player of the year last season. He has a fantastic year with Brighton and was the best player on the pitch against Thailand despite only being on for a half.

I listened to an interview with Michael Beale from last week and he mentioned Joao as being too good for the u21's now and will be at Melwood full time with the first team.

He's just come back from a broken leg in April, if it was middle of the season he wouldn't be anywhere near the first team anyway... so its probably a bonus we have got to see him.

Plus, are the fans there to see Texi with 1 first team appearance or the players whos names are on the back of their shirts?

Quite a few of the things you've put in others threads I've agreed with but not this one. If you look at all the other players who were voted player of the year in the academy and look where they are now you will see that most never made the full step up to Liverpool first team.

I'm not saying he will never be a success, but there is just so many players better than him in our squad at the moment.

You cannot say you want Texeira to play play a large role in our season and still expect top 4.

You're correct, you can't say that and indeed he didn't.
