If we get a top striker, we'll finish 5th because the top 4 are miles ahead of us. If we don't get a top striker, we'll come 5th because there really isn't any other competition. Under those circumstances, why would FSG splash out £30m+ on a player if it isn't going to make enough of a difference?
On paper there's a fair difference in standard. All we can do is fulfil our team's potential. One of the four teams is bound to slip and give us an opportunity to get top 4.
