No it hasn't. We paid around £20 million and he's an honest grafter nothing more. Don't tell me that's the going rate to get that out of a player because anywhere bar LFC it isn't.

For weeks, it was being strongly suggested that Firmino was coming to the prem with a price tag of about £18-£19m. I go away on holiday and when I return, he has signed for us with a price of £29m!!!! Have we 'attracted' him by massively overpaying? We may not have been his first choice but if we gazumped Utd by £10m (for example), then Hoffenheim would obviously prefer to do business with us unless Utd upped their offer, which they clearly weren't prepared to do.
I've watched him 4 or 5 times now and he looked 'ok', nothing special. I've checked out his youtube clips and they don't even make him look particularly good, which is a bit alarming. My gut instinct is that we have another markovic on our hands. i.e., we've panicked because someone else was interested and paid well over the odds in the process. I hope I'm wrong but the sudden change in price cannot be easily ignored..... I pray to God we have another Markovic on our hands because the kid is talented as hell, just needs to play in his preffered position continously. LoL!!!!!

If a young player's value hasn't increased over a 4 year period, when transfer fees are going through the roof, then how is that a good piece of business?? No because he is worth well over his initial transfer fee we bought him for. So even with inflation we will fully recoup the initial fee relative to inflation. If another club really wanted we would probably get even more. I don't know why I am even discussing selling Henderson. He has played a load of games for us and can be consistently relied on. His contribution up to now has been worth the transfer fee.

This scenario clearly demonstrates overpaying. I also have to agree with the massive 'lol' at someone wishing we have another Markovic on our hands. Jesus christ please no.

You guys haven't seen markovic play in his natural position for more than 45 minutes, so you really can't judge. I have, on numerous occasions at Benfica, partizan etc...trust me, Markovic is a star player...

I have, on numerous occasions at Benfica, partizan etc...trust me, Markovic is a star player... There is a lot wrong with your logic. First a good player will shine in any position saying they are out of position is a poor excuse. Second if we are playing markovic out of position there is a reason for that he is probably not impressing in that position in training and rodgers is trying to make use of him another way. And third if we have no need for him in his natural position then you wonder why on earth we bought him.

I agree with you he has natural talent but manys the player who has come to the prem with natural talent and failed it's the hardest league in the world
