I think the general feeling was that if City offered £50m we would accept the offer. I suggest that with City dragging their heels and wasting our time and energy the price should go up. min £60m now... and if we have to take him on pre-season the price goes up further.

I wouldn't mind us not selling and plying him in the reserves

I wouldn't mind telling them it's £60m now to.

Agreed.

Especially since FIFA have just eased their restraints on City and PSG.

That automatically gives us a chance to up the price level a bit further.

Can't understand how it is in our best interests to insist on cash only with the sell on clause to QPR and City having such a fine squad of players?

Surely something can be done as a part/ex ?

What an absolute load of rubbish.

'Not sell him and stick him in the reserves'?

Why wouldn't you not sell him and play him considering he is one of our best players and the player with the most potential.

Usual unambitious fans making up any excuse not to want Sterling to succeed at Liverpool.

Its got to stage now where fans are more bothered about one of our own player's downfall than our own club.

Expectations really have been managed.

All of City's senior players will be on top wages. It is unlikely they would be willing to let go of anyone in their starting XI. That just leaves inferior, sub top 4 quality players on high wages.

The only player I can think of and have been linked with is Jovetic.

Are you nuts!? There are only 2 good solutions:

1) we keep him and play him in the first team
2) we sell him when city make their next offer and use the money to buy a striker

Your suggestion benefits nobody at all.

It may seem that way in the short term, but perhaps not in the long term.

I give credit to FSG in the way they refused to let Suarez go the first time it kicked off... and credit to Suarez for his attitude in the his final season. If Sterling shows similar professionalism then of course play him.

My suggestion for putting the price up and perhaps not selling is to deter others from seeing us as a soft touch... and the suggestion to play Sterling in the reserves is if his attitude isn't right, his performances levels are not up to the mark and if his agent keeps causing us trouble in the press. The only players anywhere near the match day squad should be committed professionals. Ideally that should also be the case for the pre-season stuff too but unfortunately due to Sterling, his agent and City our pre-season will be disrupted.

Your expectations have been managed by yourself. You are giving the impression that you have accepted that we are going to fail on the pitch and your more bothered about our pride.

So he's not a committed professional? He's become one of the brightest talents on the planet by doing as he pleases has he?
