manager is not going to be sacked while FSG are in the throws of possibly selling the club .

It would be brilliant news. As an ambitious fan who wants Liverpool to excel on the pitch this would be great news. May be not so much for those Liverpool fans who have had their expectation managed (self-inflicted, nothing to do with FSG being owners) and seem to find an answer to everything by quoting Shankly.

I'm hopeful Rodgers will be able to retain Sterling.

Retaining Sterling would be excellent news but as an ambitious fan, letting Rodgers stay as manager would be unambitious.

If he stays we keep a good player. No problem with it as long as he gets his head down and works his socks off Suarez style.

He'd have to sign a new contract, or his value will have plummeted by next summer.

I don't think he's mature enough to stay without getting his own way, and if we give into him it makes us look weak. Lose-Lose sitiation IMO, luckily I don't actually rate high very highly!
