Ings - Probably a upgrade in the squad of either Borini or Lambert.

Joe Gomez - Highly rated youngster, apparently wanted by Dortmund and Arsenal, many Charlton fans think if given a chance next season he will become 1st choice.

Firmino - Star quality, again possible upgrade of Sterling if he leaves.

Clyne - Definate upgrade of Glen Johnson, Manquillo at right back.

All in all we are buying better players than the guys they are replacing.

Continuous Improvement.

I would say thus far we have certainly had a better window than I thought we did at the point of transfer deadline day last summer (so hind sight etc is not taken into account).

Clyne, if 12 million, is an upgrade on a problem position at a good price.
Milner, decent on a free.
Bogdan, I guess better than Jones.
Ings, not an upgrade but might develop whereas Lambert did not fit our style at all and did not have any chance of improving. He was free so not a bad signing (but leaves us desperate for another good striker still).
Firmio, first player to get a bit excited about since Suarez, though the comments about this guy being a world beater are greatly premature. Still an exciting signing that some other 'good' champions league clubs considered for once.
Joe Gomez, I don't know a great deal about I must admit so I'll have to wait and see about that one. I don't like to make judgements on heresay as it very rarely adds up to someone making a step up. Nothing against the signing though.

All in all certainly better than last year but not world beating, though still so far so good. The fact that we spent 120+ million last year and had a far worse summer than the one we've had already shows how catastrophically the committee and Rodgers failed last transfer window.
