Just wondering how good this kid is? My son tells me he is an excellent player but how come he is only costing 12.5m when a similar player like Luke Shaw traded for 30m a couple of years back.

Pardon my ignorance but would like to hear your comments as I find this forum very insightful.

I rate Clyne quite highly, he's very good at going forward, but a much better defender than Moreno for example.

In regards to the reported £12.5million fee, there's only twelve months left on Clyne's current contract and he has apparently indicated that he wants to leave. He's also about 5 years older than Luke Shaw was when he moved to Man United. I suppose both of those points factor into his valuation.

He soon is in his final year of the contract at Soton. It runs out 30 June 2016.

I guess that's why the price is so much lower than expected. It is what happens when a player can see the goal line of his contract. Just another year down south and he is a free agent!

Eish don't want to be funny but how many more threads on Clyne, guess it's gonna happen every time a new player is signed.

Last season he was being praised left right and centre by the press. He had a great season I would think. He looked solid on the few games I've seen him.

I think it was 7 or 8 when we captured Milner, NOT including one of mine asking where everyone thought he was going to live.

Wonder what Clyne's favourite grub is?

From what I've seen he's currently better than Moreno but not all that. 12 million is a good buy. I've also seen 19 million thrown about which would be ridiculous money for him.

Clyne is easily in the top 5 right backs in the league.
