You have a go at Ian Ayre for taking ages and messing up negotiations. Yet we have signed the most players out of all premier league clubs and concluded a deal for Firmino very quickly.
Oh ome on. No one has even said anything remotely negative about Ayre for at least 18 months. In fact most people will agree that he's doing a very good job.
You have a go at FSG for not spending money and not being ambitious. Yet they have already backed us with £22 mil (rising plus add-ons) for the big name signing Firmino and it looks like we are going to sign Clyne for a further £12.5 mil. This is all without any major outgoing as of yet.
Quite the opposite, in fact most people are questioning why BR has been allowed to spend over 200 million and if you want to be cynical, bit strange that we suddenly have money to spend in a week that City have upped their offer for Sterling to 40 million, I'm sure that covers the cost of Firmino and Clyne.
You have a go at Brendan for not attracting top players or big names. Yet we have signed a Brazilian international who is currently in their starting XI for the Copa America and has had a very successful spell in the Bundesliga. Also, there was reported interest from top clubs such as City, Utd and Dortmund for him. But Liverpool beat off interest from their competitors and got him under BR's leadership.
Oh yes, Brendan Rodgers has attracted Firmino; you know the player he hasn't stopped going on about for the last year, what was that Rodgers hasn't actually mentioned players like him. Meanwhile Ayre has been in South America sorting these deals out, whilst Rodgers has been on a "permanent" holiday in Benidorm.
Also, just for future reference - Klopp wanted to sign Firmino for Dortmund last Summer and was believed to want him this Summer if he stayed on in Germany. It's interesting to note that we are also being linked with Volland; another player that Klopp has expressed interest in in the past. Coincidence?
