Got this list from Talk Sport but they have 9 players who they think should or are gone.

This shows the churn that yet again needs to happen but it hardly speaks for any continuity or stability:

Jones
Johnson
Enrique

Alberto
Aspas (gone)

You could possibly add Sterling to make it 10 and Gerrard going is 11. It just highlights the complete failure of our transfer policy the last few years and how many are going to be needed to come in.

You'd surely be hard pressed to argue with many of them listed and the real problems at this club.

Its not good over half of them where bought during Br reign

i think it would be easier to list who we should keep.

Coates, Alberto and Aspas have been on loan and Lambert and Borini have hardly played so I don't see that losing those 5 will matter a jot. Could also add Enrique to that and Johnson is shitte now so no loss there either. Jones isn't good enough so again no loss and Mario will stay I think.

So possibly 11 players total going out, I can already hear next seasons excuses.........we can't compete in all competitions because we don't have a big enough squad.

None of those 9 players have contributed a great deal to this season so I don't see why all of them going would be a problem. Gerrard and Sterling (possibly) going will be much more of a problem but still not the end of the world.

I was thinking he was going to stay but for some reason I think they'll boot him now.

We know that most are no loss Wilks, what is highlighted is the resources that have gone into securing so many players in a completely failed transfer policy along with a staggering amount in wages and to top it off the fact that they aren't anywhere near good enough to see us progress.

How many players are the club going to need and find in just 2 months or so now for us to have any sort of squad depth next season?

How anyone cannot see the shambles we are in is frankly beyond me.

Potential First XI losses:

Mario (replaceable for decent fee, may stay and likely improve)
Johnson (looked dire for years, easily replaceable)
Sterling (not sure which way yet, but... big fee or big coup keeping)
Gerrard (win more games without him than with him these days)

Squad Players

Jones
Enrique
Lambert
Borini

All barely featured, all barely contributed this last year. I rate Enrique but he is replaceable like everyone listed above.

No impact whatsover as they have not contributed for the last two seasons.


Unlike last season, we now have a big enough squad that can cope with losses. Most listed have either featured regularly and unimpressed or not featured much or at all. There's a big difference to me in the importance of this window to the last. I feel this is much more important. While the signings weren't immediately succesful, I don't doubt the pedigree of those that we did sign, the disappointment is how long they're taking to settle into the team. This season, we need a couple of starters and the rest is just about improving the options in the squad, not just numbers...
