whoever the manager will be if its BR or a new manager , sterling must be moved on and the semi final for me has just cemented that thought in my opinion , his wage demands and down right horrible selfish attitude has been a massive factor on liverpool's season finishing at wembley yesterday , i have never disliked a liverpool player ever like i really dislike him , i cant support him , dont care if he scores 5 hatricks now till the end of the season for me he MUST be sold .
sorry Faz, but Sterling is an easy target at the moment.
he's merely 20 years old. a kid who grew up in difficult circumstances and then found himself with more money than many can imagine and loads of free time. the risk that he would make some bad decisions and that people around him would try to exploit him was known.
fault lies with the club, in particular the manager, for failing to protect Sterling and nurture him holistically. between the ages of 17 and 20 - hugely formative years for a footballer, BR was his manager. He had the opportunity to become a father figure and someone that by this time Sterling would be totally loyal to. He failed.
Why did he fail? because BR himself is immature and inexperienced. He doesn't have moral or footballing authority. he therefore didn't command the respect of even the teenagers he was coaching. His personal life shows that he's immature and unsettled in that dept - so how can he focus on LFC and earn the respect of young players? That's a key difference between him and managers such as Fergie, Mourinho, Wenger, Rafa. All of them seem to have settled family lives.
