It's not 'all' about money but that's what it 'usually' comes down. How many times has a team finished in the top 4 that wasn't one of the 4 richest clubs in britain?

It might happen every now and again, but that is merely an exception to the rule. Whilst there is a chance of it happening, it cannot be used as an expectation as it generally involves an unusual set of circumstances for it to occur i.e. last season.

So according to you we should just call it a day then? So why did we sack KD who at least took us to 2 finals winning one? Top 4 is anyway above us except for the odd season.

That's not what I'm saying at all. The most realistic way to catch up with the top clubs is develop young players, which is why it is so vital that we pay up and hang on to the likes of Sterling.
FSG are doing a very good job in increasing our commercial revenue, allowing us to stay within touching distance of the big 4 but we need to be cleverer than just outspending other club....besides, FFP prevents that from happening.

If anyone should be sacked it should be because they fell way short of expectation or showed no sign of improvement. In my opinion, this should be gauged over a period of no less than 12 months. Otherwise, like you say, any new manager would want big money to reshape the squad. We aren't the type of club that can afford a high turnover of managers.

Playing on Sundays is a pain for the fans, unless it's a live game. the excuse for not doing well I the league will be on the basis that we haven't got the money to pay for a squad that get results if they have to play twice a week including European travel.

We are gauging FSG over 5 years or so and BR over 3 seasons. If we had built on last season, or only just dipped slightly, then it would not be so bad. But we've been awful in the league except for a short spell; humiliated in the CL; did nothing in the Europa League; haven't pulled of any big results in any other competition barring perhaps the home win against Man City.

We also no have a squad that is frighteningly poor in terms of star names/quality.

So it's difficult to see what progress we've made on the pitch over 3-5 years let alone 12 months.

That's kind of my point, but I mean it literally. We're in 5th now but last season we came 2nd (because we only had the league to worry about). The season before we finished 7th and the season before that we came 8th.....

....Last season aside, we are steadily progressing.

Although I do not fully agree with the OP, people can't be slated and accused of not being supportive of the club just because they point out what they think are failures. Going back to the OP, I don't think united fans are happy with where they are right now, potentially 11 points off the top, and merely competing for CL qualification. For a club that has achieved so much in the past two decades, this simply should not be good enough.

It's not abt how big your transfer kitty is per summer ....if that was the case...City wud clean house every season ....and their not..

It's abt scouting the right players,
paying them the market value, in wages
playing them in their natural positions to get the best out of their ability

Buying players that are suited to the managers style of play

Having owners that have the money that can invest in the club on & off the pitch

Having a manager that has won trophies and can attract top quality players

Look at the quality players big Sam signed last summer on the cheap and their value has increased ten fold

Look at the crap brodge signed for silly money...

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.
