Lots of venting.

What about the D Moyes appointment master stroke? All part of the master plan, was it?

Give me a break. LVG was touted for the sack earlier in the season.

Don't try and tell me their boat hasn't done an eskimo roll alongside ours.

Remember, City helped UTD look good yesterday.

Point is, when they saw the D Moyes appointment wasn't working, they acted decisively to change their approach. They ditched Fergie's selfish plan of appointing a stooge and opted for the kind of manager many advised them to appoint in the first place. He also appears to have a clear say on signings.

FSG on the other hand have dilly-dallied with their appointment of manager and with how transfers are conducted.

You can fault them for the David Moyes appointment, but they sacked him after a year and brought in a well known manager.

Not sure what you meant with the Eskimo roll alongside ours, they're 3rd and will achieve champions league football, probably the goal for them at the start of the season. We've gone from 2nd to 5th and won't get CL football.

They brought in quality players, we've got in players that will help our decline.

The same as we did at Anfield, Arsenal did at the Emirates and Spurs did at OT then.

United are light years ahead of us and the gap will continue to widen under our present owners.

So my view is that we should focus on the period FSG have been in charge and also be constructive. And here I do agree to some extent with the sentiments of the opening post.

We can perhaps cut FSG some slack for the first couple of years, due to them being new to the game. And we're thankful to them from getting us out of the H&G mess.

However, the BR years have been where I believe we've been below par. It was impossible for us to close the financial gap quickly so we needed to be smart. More importantly, the imminent foreseeable retirement of Fergie gave us an ideal opportunity to catch up.

When BR was appointed we had a head start on the uncertainty that was to follow at united. In addition, we had the extreme good fortune of having Luis Suarez. And everything seemed to be in our favour.

However, somehow we blew it ... and for that FSG do have to take a large part of the responsibility. In my eyes, FSG and BR stand accused of:

- failures in transfer policy: overpriced mediocre players when everything had fallen into place for us to strike with top quality additions
- failures in man-management: Gerrard, Sterling, Henderson at a time when we needed full focus on the problems on the pitch
- failures in coaching and tactics (the defence and the crunch games)
- failures in stadium development: it's taken so long and all we'll get now is 8,500 seats for £100m outlay.

Some would even argue FSG appointed the wrong manager... but I'd say that given our financial disadvantages it was worth a shot and there is some evidence that it could work. But BR has also failed to address the fundamentals, i.e. a solid keeper and defence.

Cracking post. FSG are only marginally better than H & G in regards to transfer policy and stadium though. Everything they've done since they've come to club illustrates they want a Spurs, not a Utd.

Yep, good post by mighty. And I agree, we don't seem too much better off now than under H&G. We have a weaker squad (arguably), a lesser manager (arguably) and still no new stadium (fact). we also used to finish regularly in the top 4 under them too so not really better off at all.

Moyes was a mistake which they corrected in less than a season and LVG took some time to get his team to settle and play as he wishes. Maybe City helped UTD look good, but so did Spurs and us at HOME, they also beat Arsenal away, ie, United won the important games. It's sad, but we fcked up big time after a very promissing last season which looks like was really thanks to Suarez. I don't think Rodgers has the required level and I blame FSG for the overall situation.

You seem to be forgetting that Utd are the richest club in the world and were league champions less than 2 years ago following a long period of domination and continuity. Utd might snatch 3rd place this season - we got 2nd last season but you seem to forget about that. Let's see how your Utd fare next year with the additional games before we start getting excited.

Comparing us with them is absolute nonsense, and that isn't the fault of the current owners or manager.

You said it yourself, we finished 2nd last year. So what happened after we spent all of Surez money and more than 50% more? Are you saying it was just a fluke then?
