I was going to post something similar you beat me to it flames. Look at Man Uniteds turnover and other clubs like bayern. They have good infrastructure which generates wealth something we don't have and will never have not while these owners are in charge. Because of that United can attact the best managers who will have the biggest budgets who will have the best players they may have dips and disappointments but in general terms and over the long term they will be at the top. Liverpool FC are not in that league our ground development is nothing more than pathetic and a laughing stock. As for players we will be dealing in scraps the clubs like man united don't want. It's fine saying go and support man united then but surely no sensible liverpool fan should be accepting of this situation. Well said Stan......hit the nail on the head !!!!

what we failed to do in twenty five.
Said it from the start. they got a proper manager, and proper players. they'll be settled in no time while we fuuck about pretending that rebuilding takes decades as rodgers stumbles from stuttering start to calamitous collapse.
We're a club of idiots. Nostalgic, deluded and gullible. Getting sold down the river rearranging chairs on the titanic as other clubs piiss by on their speed boats.
The same ridiculous hopeless threads will riddle the forum over the summer about which megastar we might buy and then we'll end up with Benteke or lampard on loan with sterling on his bike. Quality OP.......truth hurts and people are not happy abt the above...... Keep your head in the sand, while top clubs improve on & off the pitch

The same ridiculous hopeless threads will riddle the forum over the summer about which megastar we might buy and then we'll end up with Benteke or lampard on loan with sterling on his bike. You seem to be forgetting that Utd are the richest club in the world and were league champions less than 2 years ago following a long period of domination and continuity. Utd might snatch 3rd place this season - we got 2nd last season but you seem to forget about that. Let's see how your Utd fare next year with the additional games before we start getting excited. Comparing us with them is absolute nonsense, and that isn't the fault of the current owners or manager. You said it yourself, we finished 2nd last year. So what happened after we spent all of Surez money and more than 50% more? Are you saying it was just a fluke then? Here's what happened: We had to buy a lot of players to replace Suarez, and to give us additional depth because BR gave us our first CL football in 5 years (people forget that). With that many changes, it takes time to settle and integrate. Last season we finished 2nd but not even the most foolish fans could have expected something similar this year. We didn't finish 2nd because we were THAT much better than everyone but City; we finished 2nd because of our light workload: no european football, and knocked out of both domestic cups very early on. This season there have been a number of factors as to why we've been under par: -we lost our best player -our top striker has been a long term injury -additional matches/travel due to Champions League/Europa league -additional games due to reaching 2 semi-finals in domestic cups -integrating 6 new signings in to the squad You can call the above a list of 'excuses' if you like (I'm sure that's what rival fans do), but there can be no denying that the points made have undoubtedly been the reason for our league position and/or underwhelming performances. Basically, we are the 5th richest club in Britain, so if you think we should be finishing higher than 5th I would love to know your reasoning.....

Basically, we are the 5th richest club in Britain, so if you think we should be finishing higher than 5th I would love to know your reasoning..... I agree with some of what you say but I see what I consider to be flaws: - we can't say on the one hand that we needed more players to compete in additional competitions, but then say we couldn't compete in them (CL & EL) because the players needed time to gel - in any case, the league is the bread and butter. it should have top most priority always but even moreso if we suspected that the players would need time to gel to compete in various competitions - also, with many of our signings it's a case that they have glaring personal deficiencies as opposed to it being a team gelling thing. e.g. Toure, Sakho, Moreno, Loveren, Migs... they don't exude authority and keep making individual errors - similarly, how do we expect the team to gel with strikers that don't get a decent run? Lambert was bought as a backup yet despite losing Suarez and Sturridge, neither he or Borini seemed to get a decent run of games. Balo got a run though playing on his own up front I believe So I think there's more to it than just failing to gel. And when the richer teams falter we should be in a position to take advantage and that's why this season I expected us to be strongly challenging for top 3 or 4.

They appoint a manager that has won nothing, he wastes a fortune in the transfer market and they sack him, replacing him with a proven winner. We appoint a manager that has won nothing, he wastes a fortune in the transfer marker and .... we stand by our man. They develop a state of the art stadium that holds over 75,000. We throw a back return up because our owners don't want to spend any more than they have to, before they sell us on. They buy top quality players in the summer paying top wages. We buy over priced potential stars hoping to get lucky and possibly drive out our better players over wages. They go from 5th to 3rd in less than one season under their new manager. Our manager, now in his 3rd season takes us from 2nd to 6th (currently). We are told not to forget that we finished 2nd last season but not to complain now that we are only 6th (currently) this season. If it was as simple as who has the most money then United would win the league every year. No one seems to have told that to Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal. We are 3rd in the league when it comes to money spent on transfers in the last 5 years so should we have finished 3rd in every one of those seasons? Arsenal are 8th in the same table so something doesn't add up.

Some fair points. All in all then, there are some very good reasons why we're not near the top but maybe we should be doing a bit better than we are? Would that be a fair compromise?
If the season ended now, it would have to go down as a slightly disappointing campaign, but no one should be getting the sack.

Granted, United have moved up to 3rd....but under the same circumstances as we moved up to 2nd last season - a very light workload due to a previously disappointing campaign. As for Utd bringing in top quality players. I've seen very little to suggest that Falcao, Di Maria, Shaw and Rojo represent good value for money.

If the season ended now, it would have to go down as a slightly disappointing campaign, but no one should be getting the sack. It's going to be a huge judgement call for FSG. But if the season ended now, I would be more than just slightly disappointed. I would be hugely disappointed: - no trophy. - no top 4 finish. - Thursday night EL to dread next season, which also means sunday league games at random times and a ready made excuse for failing to perform in the league next season. - not a single world class player left in the squad. - Henderson as Captain, seemingly bcos there's no one else who could be. the same Hendo that clearly doesn't command the respect of his teammates as we saw during the Balo penalty fiasco. - Lucas as our longest serving player. the only reason not to sack someone (esp given that Rafa was sacked after 1 poor season in 6, and Kenny was sacked after getting to two cup finals winning one) is that the mess left for someone else could lead to, and provide an excuse for, a freefall downward spiral. I think FSG and BR should be given next season to prove that either they were right and that they had a strategy that would work given sufficient time or that those who doubted them as charlatans/not up to standard were right all along.

I don't see why playing on a Sunday could be used as any kind of excuse not to perform??
If anyone should be sacked it should be because they fell way short of expectation or showed no sign of improvement. In my opinion, this should be gauged over a period of no less than 12 months. Otherwise, like you say, any new manager would want big money to reshape the squad. We aren't the type of club that can afford a high turnover of managers.

United is the richest club in the EPL, so if it is all about money, they should be winning the league every season, no? How is it that Chelsea is above them? Was United only the 7th richest club last season? My reasoning is that it is not all about money, we finished 2nd last season, lost one player, had the second highest spend last summer, so we should at least hit our objective of top 4, else it's a failure. Now if you are happy with 5th every year, then I have nothing to tell you.
