As for Marquee signings they dont need to cost the earth just need to have the skill to be better than anything we have so straight into the 1st team then hit the ground running helping the team onwards and upwards. For Example Real came in and siad we want to replace Bale (which are the rummours) and we want Sterling but with the other 4-5 cilubs going for him we aint getting him on the cheap but dont have the £50m as we want to buy Augero or Falcoa so the proposition is for swap of Benzema and Illermadi. Both players lot better than ours, one world class striker and the other would have been if he hadnt gone to Real. Both put LFC onto next level plus stronger to compete. If we just get the money then Luis Adriano has fee of £10m due to end of contract, Pedro £20m due to Barca trying to get money in to buy Douglas Costa, Douglas Costa £20m, Vittone £15m, Dybala £20m so could get 3 of these players (even if the transfermarket.co fees are wrong then with sales these are achievable)

Hmmm, anything better than we have then would be a marquee signing?? Chelsea, Man U and City sign those to warm their benches, and be available for emergencies! Our marquee seems to have imploded in recent times so. Also good luck with getting those players you mentioned, but my question is: who’s going to pay their wages?

Nothing annoys me more than when a manager says 'so-and-so's' contract extension is like having a new signing. Or claiming that someone coming back from injury is like having a new signing. Not it effing isn't!

No point selling sterling if brodge is going to bring in more players like ie
Allen
Lallana
Borini
Lambert etc etc

As average as Lallana has been, he was very good at Southampton. I think we should see how next season goes before laying into him too much. The sooner we get rid of people like borini and allen though, the better.

Too many players who are not good enough, hard to get rid of them all in one summer. I'd like to see the back of Glen Johnson, Toure, Enrique, Allen, Lallana, Markovic, Balotelli, Lambert and Borini. None of these players are good enough but of course we would have a tiny squad if they all went and I hate us signing squad players, we'd need to replace them with top players and Rodgers doesn't seem capable of that.

I guess it also depends on BRs preferred formation/tactics. With Origi coming in we will definitely have too many forwards unless we get rid of 1 or 2 of the current ones. I have no problem in keeping some of the above if they are to be used in emergencies but none have shown that they are good enough to be a regular.
If we're going for 3 at the back then Johnson is worth keeping as he makes a more than decent wingback. If we're going 4 at the back then he pack his things and clear off now.

Johnson will never accept a deep pay cut to get a new contract with LFC.

It's about the same situation as we had with Joe Cole. Gone in the summer - regardless of whether he's good enough to have in the squad or not.
