I've just read today that Ian Rush has just become Liverpools schools ambassador.

a somewhat small role, but none the less, I'm glad to see Rushie back at Liverpool

Same here! The man's a legend and deserves some kind of role within the club.

My opinion is that it was criminal the club allowed players of the calibre (allied with the top class experience) of Rush, Barnes, Molby, Whelan, etc, to just quietly wander off out of the club. These people should have been taken on in some capacity along time ago. Whether it be as coaches, working at the academy, scouting or as club ambassadors. In my eyes, the club is finally starting to right some wrongs (by bringing back Dalglish, Rush, etc).

*And Rafa haters! Knowing you as I do, the "club is finally starting to right some wrongs" bit, isn't a cue for you to start boring us with daily bouts of Rafa bashing.

Acari, Don't kid yourself. They (aka Rafa Haters!) would probably find some way to blame Rafa for the clubs failure to sign on the legends when their footballing career came to an end!! wink

the club was in turmoil at the time anyway ...... it was a time of change so it wasn't easy to offer them an opportunity, most wanted to continue playing, like rush and barnes, and so weren't ready to move behind the scenes

hopefully we can get a few more legends back at the club
