Yep, there were reports he was on their shortlist at the time. I think Dunc maybe even did a video on it.

Why belittle our manager when he is again proving he is a very good manager albeit inexperienced? Why belittle the man who despite his inexperience had the balls to drop Gerrard when underperforming and drop , what was obviously a FSG wish, Balloteli. He dropped the captain and a player the owners wanted playing so he would increase his value, and imo those were 2 crucial decisions which brought about our turnaround.

That is a sign of a good manager.

Why shouldnt city be interested?

So sick and tired of listening to people belittle a man who has worked his socks off to get us up and running again. I honestly dont remember when last we played football as attractive and exciting as we are under him. He has brought back belief.

I don't care if you're sick of people having a different opinion to you, grow up and deal with the internet. Rodgers has worked hard and deserves a lot of the plaudits he gets. Similarly he hasn't been an outstanding manager this season and made plenty of mistakes. So maybe he will continue to improve maybe he won't. If he gets top 4 that's fantastic and shows him to be a good manager again.

Your point about them wanting to be an assistant is irrelevant. That's an assistant's job. There are many more instances of assistants not becoming a club's manager than there are of them doing so (on more than an interim basis). The article you posted was pure speculation that they had interest in him in replacing Pellegrini. And it is my opinion that they will prefer someone who has made more of a name for himself across Europe (regardless of what you want to pretend, pellegrini was highly sort after by a number of European clubs), I would be incredibly surprised if Rodgers would even make it to their final short list due to what I perceive their club ethos to be. Rodgers simply hasn't done enough yet. That has no bearing on if I believe Rodgers will become a top manager for us or not so don't get your knickers in a twist.

Again you try insulting and belittling, but that speaks more about you than me. I have no problem with different opinions, i have a problem with people who belittle our manager despite his qualities and a problem with those who laugh off perfectly plausible notions.

I never claimed the article was fact. What is a well documented fact is that he was on their shortlist prior to Pellegrini's appointment. What is a fact is that despite as you claim, Pellegrini being well aought after, he has very very little European success, if any.

You yourself said you felt Europe was their priority and i simply questioned, if that was the case, why appoint a manager with no European success or an enviable history in Europe, like Pellegrini? Hes has neither.

So you see, i questioned your reasoning and you seem to have gotten a bit wound up by that. I dont know why.

P.S. I don't wear knickers, i prefer going commando ;p

I'm not belittling you I was trying to defuse your clear tension with a funny remark. But that seems to have upset you too. I think if you read the other conversation several people are accusing you of attempting to belittle, it's not something I have interest in.

I'm not wound up as I don't get upset by other's opinions. Follow this though, you have said you get upset by people belittling our manager, but I haven't belittled him I have pitched him at the level that in my opinion he is at, that is a different level to where you believe him to be in your opinion so you claim that is belittling him when in fact we just have a difference of opinion, and you have self confessed that it has upset you. So don't get upset by a different opinion mate, I jsut don't rate Rodger's as highly as you yet. We both have valid reasons for our opinions, I'd rather discuss them without you getting upset of supposed belittling of our manager.

And if FSG don’t dismantle that committee and their wage and recruitment policy I wouldn’t be surprised if Rodgers accepted a move to them either. However I think he has his eye on Spain and probably Barca.

Personally i hope they stay away as i feel he could be tempted to leave and i feel we have a very very good manager albeit inexperienced. People say LFC shouldnt be the place where he learna his trade. I dont feel he is learning his with us but rather perfecting it. There is perhaps only 1 manager in the world i would swap BR for at the moment and that is Carlo Ancelloti. I wouldn't swap him for Simeone, Klopp or Maureen.

I would swap him for anyone of the 4 you mentioned though I don't think Ancelotti and Maureen are available. Both Simeone and Klopp have worked wonders with teams having less resources than us, so I take it that you are being emotional.
. Its got nothing to do with me being emotional, i have no emotions towards Ancelloti. I simply realise the potential BR has imo. I much prefer the attractive football we play to the tough defensive tactics Simeone employs. I dont feel Klopp is a huge step up from BR and i do feel that if we changed BR for a manager who has never worked in the PL before we could face another 2-3 year setback whilst he adjusts to the nature of the EPL and beda in whatever new system and players he would bring in. As far as Maureen is concerned, as good a manager as he is, he epitomises everything that i hate about big money football and arrogance so i wouldn't want him anywhere near LFC.

I suspect it is possible that you are misled to believe that just because BR isn't a big name manager yet, he wont be in the near future. Clubs like city dont come sniffing around a manager twice unless if they think you have what it takes to be a big name. Just look at city's set-up. The creme de la creme of football experts, coaches, managers, assistants and players. If they recognize BR's worth, perhaps those who don't should take another look.

What does sniffing around mean? If City wanted Rodgers, he would either be already there or at least they would have made an offer, the rest is just rumours because the press wants to sell their news. Pellegrini is the main selling article right now and any manager having a good run will be linked. I thought you didn't believe in everything you read.

I wouldn't say they have that much less than us in the way of resource. Dortmund have signed some expensive players as have Atletico in recent years.

You can check the revenue by team listing if you don't think that they have much lesser resources than us. Both Dortmund and Athletico have been buying from proceeds of their sales anyway.

Don't think this will happen. Ancelotti is starting to get booed by the madrid fans so he may be out of a job in the summer and if you are Shiekh Mansour, do you pick a rookie or a manager that has done it all in every league he coached. I know who'd i pick.

Yeah I'm sure our revenues are higher but they do buy well is my point. Whether that's from sales or not. Look at what we could spend due to one sale last summer.
