It has just been one big circus with Gerrard this year, he has none nothing of note in the first team for seasons yet never gets any criticism from anyone for his lacklustre performances, it all gets brushed under the carpet with comments such as he has lost his legs, he is still a huge personality in the team etc.

Mario however scores a penalty and gets panned for not running around enough after he scored.

I just think the Gerrard circus has been one step too far thus season, from the media frenzy he generated when he announced he was leaving in January, to this month when he attempted to destroy a member of our team on live tv in January.

I wonder what March, April and May will bring us.

Gerrard is a legend and my all-time favorite player, but he has disappointed me this season. He's been inconsistent on the pitch, and he's been a media circus with him announcing he's leaving in the middle of the season, and now things like this. Nothing will ever change how much he's done for us, but I wish this wasn't the note his career was ending on.

I notice Gerrard was not permitted to have another commentary gig today?

Sturridge was relegated to the bench, and Mario never got any game time.
