yep I hope they stay and start getting games next season - hopefully pre-season friendlies will give us an indication of Rafa's thoughts on the matter.

The great thing about this pre-season is we (hopefully) won't have to play Champions league qualifiers so the kids can get a go and show what they are capable of! Good luck to all of them and I'm sure they will show their worth.

loaning players out is a must for us over the summer,the ressies wont get 1st team football next season,maybe carling cup at a push,so it makes more sense to loan them out to a competitive league were we can see what qualities they have.

That's not necessarily the case. Ngog is getting a run and also Insua. Depending in who we sell and who we buy will depend on if they get a run.

ngog an insua are getting runs in the side due to a lack of competition in there position to,insua should be 1st choice on merit now in my opinion,i rate aurelio but think the energy and overlapping play that insua offers just makes him a better option,as for ngog bar torres we havent realy got any centre forwards,i no people will say kuyt is a centre forward but how many times has he played and offered little threat up front,good at holding the ball up and his work rate is unquestionable but he wont score many. in my previous post when i said bout players goin on loan im talking more bout the darby,spearing,plessis,san jose,nemeth members of the squad,with masch alonso and lucas what chance have spearing and plessis got of getting a game at the minute,same with san jose and darby,the reserve league is of no standard and wont bring the players game any further. if they go to a newly promoted team or a lower division theyve got more chance of progresion due to the competitiveness and are more likely to catch the eye aswell.

When Kuyt is at centre forward, he is used as a link man, not an out and out centre forward like Torres. He holds the ball and feeds the wingers to supply balls into the box. Look how often the wingers had the ball out wide in the Barcode game.

I know what you're saying Adam about players going out to get games.

It's a fine balance really whether you think a player is going to be able to progress better going out to a lower division team and getting some match time but probably playing against a load of hoofers before training all week doing laps of a field somewhere (all with still no guarantee of playing 1st team)

or getting next to no competitive game time but training at state-of-the-art Melwood, with the best facilities and the best trainers, medical staff, dieticians etc.

I tend to think for players who need to improve mentality and strength the former, for those who need to improve fitness, skill and generally just learning the game, the latter.

Wouldn't the kids be better spending the pre season with us and getting game time in our friendlies and maybe then fnding them a nely promoted club they could play with on loan? This way the get to know our way of playing and if they show anything in the pre-season then they could stay and fight for a place in the first team.
