Agree KP. Did anyone think it would be an easy ride with Mario and at a cut price punt for a reason? This was another media non-event. Watched the 'incident' a few times they weren't rowing over anything. Hendo calmly let's Mario take the ball and he proceeds to get on with it. It is only after Sturridge appears to step in whining that things looked worse.

I'm glad he took the ball. This is LFC. Henderson's model A professional footballer bit is prevalent in many many players in the league and that detracts far too much from the fact the guy has very few top drawer attributes including not being able to hit a barn door when he shoots. Mario didn't trust him with it anymore than most of us would have, and he won us the game. F_ck Redknapp.

Mario is improving everytime he gets on, if he continues to listen to the manager and what he is asking for, he will become that £40 million player. In fact, I quite like the edgy spirited side he brings to the team on the field. We need someone firing it all up out there and the guy knows how to rile the opposition to perfection.

I'm sticking with it- Rogers will get him over the line in the end, and the lad will come good.

I don't think Mario will ever become a 40m player, don't know what some people here have been smoking. We'd be lucky to get 20m in summer.

You can't say he doesn't have the skills to score penalties when he has never taken one, whilst I agree Balotelli should have taken the penalty your criticism of Henderson doesn't stack up at all. If you don't have 'basic football skills' then he wouldn't be playing for Liverpool or England would he?

We must be the only team in the world that slates a player for scoring.

Mario has the balls to step up and take a pen in the closing minutes of the game and scores and gets dogs abuse for his troubles.

He has been slated on air by his team captain and by a former player and we are told he has to go for going against team instructions.

What team has instructions which include DONT scare late in the game as it may upset others.

You couldn't make this stuff up and yet we are told that Mario is the trouble maker.

Pathetic showing by SG and he did BR or the team no favours.

Shaggy, who's slating Mario for scoring? I haven't seen that in any comment on here & Rodgers is commenting on Mario's performance after scoring.

As for Balotelli potentially being a £40m-£50m player, I think that's a myth. Balotelli's value has dropped every time he has left a club & he has done absolutely nothing in his time here to indicate that trend won't continue. I want him to succeed but the naivety of some people is astounding, after a couple of goals in over half a season.

For the short period he was on he created a couple of free kicks in goal scoring positions and freed up Sturridge a few time, then had the confidence to score a pressure penalty winning us the first leg.

If anyone can be considered ineffectual it was Sterling. Was subbed on and quickly disappeared. Where was BR's assessment of that? Why was Llalanas display not assessed? Poor by BR to criticise a player that has won him his last two games.
