Anyone else starting to get a bit pis*ed off that Henderson is insistent in taking all of our set pieces. He doesn't strike the ball well enough for me and is trying and failing to emulate Gerrard. Not criticising him too much but why even dispute who takes a penalty when you only have to look at Ballotelli's record from the spot. We are lacking a good set-piece taker without Gerrard. I would have Moreno or Can on them, they seem to be able to strike a ball fairly well. Good win anyway!

It's corners that are really annoying me. When was the last time we scored from one? With players like skrtle, Sakho, lovren and balotelli in the team we should really be more of a threat, but we never even look like scoring

People are already making a big deal out of the penalty. The way I saw it, Balotelli said he wanted to take it and Henderson let him take the ball. Sturridge wasn't moaning because 'he' wanted to take it - I think he was telling Henderson to get the ball back and take the penalty as per the plan. No big deal though. God knows why Henderson was down to take it in the first place though. Has he ever even taken a penalty??

That's the bigger issue, Henderson to take pens?

For that last free kick of the game he took up a distinctly Ronaldo-esque stance. Was quite amusing till he hit the ball...

Noticed that as well. Wish Ballotelli had of walked over and took the ball for that too.

Henderson has missed one penalty in a shootout.
No way should he be on penalty.



Our best penalty taker and free kick expert is Mario Balotelli, which is why he should be first name on the team sheet.

I wonder if Henderson had taken and missed the penalty last night, would Gerrard had alluded that it was the plan for Henderson to take the penalty, or would he have let Mario get stick from the fans for not having the guts to take the penalty and leaving it to Henderson?

Because Henderson takes them with a pitching wedge.
They take so long to get over that it allows defenders time to get under them. Also the trajectory is all wrong. How can our players get to these balls and generate the power to head them in?
